Can anyone advise me where to look for the markings on the back of these earrings? They belonged to a relative and may have been purchased in Japan in the 50s. I'm including a picture of the earrings and one showing the box. Macro pictures aren't showing up very well so far. I'll try again...

This was given to my grandmother for her 16th birthday, which would have been in 1912. I've tried to get a close up of the only marking I can find inside it but I can't figure out what it is. Any idea what kind of pearls these are likely to be?

This is a 17" graduated strand I'm told was purchased in the mid 1980s. I believe the pearls range from maybe 3.5mm to 6mm. Note the little marking on the clasp which I'd guess is another depiction of an open oyster. Looks kind of like an L. Any opinions on these?
