Hello everyone,
Thank you for accepting me into this forum!
I’m currently pursuing a career as a jewellery appraiser specialising in pearls, and I’m very eager to gain some hands-on experience in pearl harvesting, grading, and processing.
I would love to find an opportunity to intern at a pearl farm in Japan or Southeast Asia — anywhere I could learn directly from professionals in the field.
If anyone has recommendations or knows of farms open to hosting interns, I’d be truly grateful for your advice or contacts.

Thank you in advance for any suggestions!

The pearl farms I visited in Japan were tiny, family operated businesses. Some only had 2 people. Some had 5 or 6 people. I don't think they were big enough to have an intern. But I only visited 4 farms, and these were the ones that the Japanese picked for us to visit.

Try contacting the Japan Pearl Exporters Association and/or the Japan Pearl Promotion Society and see if they have any ideas. These were the two groups who hosted my trip to Japan.

Thank you very much! That’s a great idea!
