Both of them look like black (enhanced) freshwater pearl necklaces to me. Quite small and without typical tahitian luster. Very pretty though, the one with 4 rows is terrific!

Yes, these are dyed freshwater pearls, not tahitians.

Thanks for your reply. How can I be absolutely sure? Can trusted labs like GIA identify the source of these pearls?

The images of the first are a too small to see the strand clearly, but they appear to be true rounds and some color has faded. If true round, the first could be dyed akoya. I agree on the second. It's a strand of dyed Chinese freshwater pearls. Neither are Tahitian - that you can be absolutely sure of.

Both are dyed pearls so can't be considered as genuine Tahitian pearls even if they came from.
Tahitian pearls should remain untreated.

However there are some genuine Tahitian pearls that are color treated-- chocolate colored Tahitians pearls. Not as popular now than they were a decade or two ago.
