Hi DCP, the necklaces sound amazing! Could you go with your hollow cast loop idea, but use gimp looped through the drilled holes as opposed to a crimp holding the weight? I always worry using wire and crimps, would much rather knot any day!

Creating a match might be difficult for a jeweller, but replacing the stud with a bail would be fairly simple and then you could wear the sentimental piece as a pendant. THEN you could purchase a new pair of studs ☺️

I read it as using the pearl meat instead? As they talk about food safety, and growing the oyster smaller as it is a quicker process. Interesting read though!
