I was going to keep this one for my yearly thread---Slraep's Xmas Ideas 2008---but I just can't wait and must post it NOW.

What a masterpiece of unwearable metalsmithing! Imagine this on a woman(okay, or a man) with a small head and short neck. Imagine the shoulder gouges after a couple of hours of wear even on a person with an extra long neck. Imagine the chin abrasions. Not something you'd want to wear while driving to the ball and having to look in your side view mirrors. No, this is definitely for someone with a chauffeur.

It could, though, be worn while practising ballet in private, as a sort of over the top, eccentric and horribly expensive postural aid.

Or it could double as a fancy stand for an fruit bowl.

now maybe you could tip that piece with abalone horn pearls to really make it dangerous!

What are they thinking? It must be terribly uncomfortable, even without the horn pearls on the ends. Ack! This is one design I gladly let the women wear (but hope they don't).

Pointing towards the inside, right?

I tried SO HARD not to look! When I started reading, I was already giggling because I knew Slraep had come up with yet another good one! How about for the rich, rich, doggie who needs an Elizabethan because he just can't stop nibbling on his toes! Maybe then the other dogs would stop laughing at him when he went for a walk. Those pointy ends going into her clavicle -- OOOO! Pearl impalement!

Plus! She's got some really bad skin!

The physiotherapist in me is imagining a brachial plexus injury from impalement - and that's even before the abalone horn pearls are substituted!

Hi,
This is perfect to wear on long road trip. It sure will keep you from falling asleep at the wheel. :D

Someone, anyone! Get her to nod in that necklace, folks! :p

On the other hand... 'could easily see a little pearly basket like that on the desk... for paperclip and such

I think these women belong to a tribe either in Kambodja or near the border. How they can allow vanity make their necks so weak that they would break like a stick because of the muscels having disappeared (if they take away these neckrings) is beyond my imagination ...

These women are kept in a form of slavery by the government as they are used to support a tourist trade and are not permitted travel permits to leave. Many have now taken off their rings
