What dark & buried secret led to my downfall?

The year - 1985

I remember it well.

It was the year I brought home Octavia Oyster.

Comes 1986 - My first fine pearl purchase.

Why, suddenly, did I have to "shell" out major money for pearls?

It was her fault! All her fault -- not mine!!!

Muah hah ha!!! (You wondered where I got that from)

Sure, she looks innocent now!

The nasty little destroyer of budgets -- that's what she is! ;)

Oh how cute! How big is the pearl?

Wait a minute, Blaire! Octavia seems vaguely familiar....a little like the unmentionably blob of a horror in that Clark Ashton Smith story about the fabulous emeralds and the moneylender. Only Octavia's a lot cuter, of course. But she's just as greedy regarding jewels, I'll bet. Yes, you are right, it is her fault!! You must get rid of her somehow. But she's not going to let that happen, eh? She wants more jewels, eh? She's originally from Commoriom, did you know that?

Hmmmm....how shall I put it? YOU ARE DOOMED!!!!!

(Here's that link again. It got nuked in the other thread)

You're right, it's too late. I'm too far gone. <sigh> What a way to go! ;)

Once you start you can't stop. Must've cost a fortune. And the thing is, once you've started with that nothing ever seems to much anymore. My downfall was the 7-8 mm white freshadama set. Nothing's ever the same.

Just to be on the safe side, if a beggar on the street should ask for a couple of pazoors, don't tell him to get lost. Give him the money.

I don't know about it being a "great" way to go. If Octavia starts salivating and looking a little famished one day---just remember the ending to the story and RUN. Yes, leave all the jewels behind and RUN!!!

Ah, Slraep! My eyes can barely stay open! I'm like the cat who can't fall asleep because I might miss something. The last half of the tale of the Emeralds will have to wait until tomorrow. Intriguing, a treasure in itself to look foward to. Night all.

The clam she is adorable and so innocent and sweet looking, then again so is chocolate .. LOL

The pearl is also another innocent looking beauty!

37 mm? Are you kidding? ...

GemGeek, that pearl is part of the toy-clam, isn't it ? ;)

If not, my pearl world is about to topple here...

It came attached -- it's her tongue! It's actually very lustrous. I could be envious, but it would be outrageous to wear something that big. It's bigger than a ping pong ball!;)

I thought, this has to be some kind of April Fools Day joke, but the date was wrong . . . . Added the smiley anyway! :)

It actually looks very pretty!

'Ever wondered who is the 'pearl guide' after all? :p

That knuckle launching a blue ball into the title of the forum isn't half as cute

Normally I wouldn't trust anyone with pinkish-red eyes-----but I will make exception for Octavia! Just TOOOOOOO cute!!

so many pearls, so little time

Octavia is going to visit Pearl Paradise with me very soon. She promises to post a photo!

Octavia's Adventures . . . can't wait to see what she "grabs" from Pearl Paradise . . . no doubt she could make a lot of trouble! :)

Seriously, on the subject of big pearls - has anyone actually seen these? Jeremy has one that is 21 mm (!), but there are supposed to be ovals up to 30 (!!) and even baroques up to 40 (!!!).
