Hi, can you help me to identify my pearl necklace? Is it real pearl? If it is real, is it from Japan? There is no marker, clap was replaced. The size is small but I like them so much. Thanks
Thanks so much. I have another broken pearl bracelet. I should restring it or not? I think it is very old. These are Chinese freshwater pearls. They are solid nacre-- there is no bead insde to make them round.
Hi Pearl Dreams. I know the pictures are not the best but I think these could be poorer quality baroque Akoya pearls - some of the pearls look to have had little tails which have been squared off. You can just see the tapering at the ends of some of the pearls. These appear to be some of the earlier Chinese bead nucleated pearls, from around 2010 or so.
If you wish to wear them, then yes, you should restring them. But you don't have to pay someone to do that-- that can be expensive. You can restring them yourself. Many of us do-- it isn't hard. If you can make overhand knots, you can do it.

This is not hard-- really! It is harder to describe it than to do it. Anyone can learn to string their own pearls!

Good photos! They are akoyas.
Akoyas but the nacre is thin and missing in some places.Hello again!
As promised, here are pictures with the other three pearl strands. I would like to thank you again for your help and kindly ask for your views on them.
All three have gold clasps marked 375.
This is the first strand, the clasp is oval, clam like shape with little white stones.
Akoya. The last strand, has larger pearls than the previous two and whiter than the second strand. The clasp is small in a shape of a little barrel marked 375.
What type of pearls they are? Many thanks in advance for your insights.
Thank you very muchAkoya.
Freshwaters...the oval shapes give them away. The second, is a double strand pearl necklace with a rectangle engraved clasp marked 375. The pearls are less round but whiter than the first strand posted today. Please see below the pics.
