Baroque Akoyas

THOSE colors are getting bleached away??? Good Grief!

These guys sure do look nicer in there home-made pictures than could have ever imagined from the PP ones. Very stryking!

Congratulations !

Yowza! My box of happiness came today and I am *still* shaking. Literally - like I had a triple espresso. It took several minutes for me to work the clasps, lol. You guys know I am a terrible photographer, and I had some extra obstacles to overcome today - first the shaking and then, when I went outside to get a pic in the overcast daylight, it is so hot and humid that my camera lens fogged over. Sigh - I finaly managed these few.

The first photo is 104 and the 20" I had made out of 152 and 126 (I had the remainder of those pearls made into a bracelet and earrings).

The second is the full set, but with the 20" inside and 104 plus the bracelet (linked together) on the outside. You can also see the pair of earrings I had made.

Finally, a shot of the bracelet in sunlight on a white background, so you can see the colors.

I am so absolutely in love with these pearls!! I am horrified to think that these colrs are being bleached out. I know that I am biased in favor of any and all blues, but these are so luminous - like little nuggets of moonlight! I can't stop playing with them.

Jeremy: Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

And another Yowza ! from over here.
Mine arrived this morning and they are stunning.
The colours are gorgeous - different hues every time I look at them.
The pics. were taken in a rush, in my north-facing dining room on ( yet another ) grey and cloudy, rainy day.
Will be wearing them to my daughter's wedding tomorrow.
No doubt about it.

Boo, Cinderdella blue. You are beautiful! Take your husband out to dinner tonight and dance the night away. Ahhh.

Sueki: I can just see you in those three strands. I thought you only had 1 when I PM'd you! You'll look like Audry Hepburn in "My Fair Lady" at the wedding.

I'm so lucky to have such wonderful and beautiful friends.

Salem, I need to hear from Salem.

My necklaces arrived yesterday and I must say they are spectacular. I usually like large pearls so I bought muliple strands (lg and small). I layered them with a muticolor tahitian I have and they really pop, but they are definitely stand alone strands. I see bright orange and pink and purple and aqua. I agree with you, Boo, that it is a shame that these colors are unaceptable and have to be bleached out. Thank goodness for pearl-guide and all of the vendors that see beyond the large retail market "standard" and help us pursue our love of the unusual and unique. Someday soon I hope I will master a digital camera and my MAC.

Before I dash off to bed - must get some beauty sleep if I am to compete with those pearls - thank you everyone for your comments.
I agree with Valeria, Boo, Ingy and everyone else that it is a crying shame to bleach this fabulous colour out.
And a huge thank you to Jeremy and his clever, clever thinking.

The pictures everyone has posted so far are great! You all are so lucky; wear them with love and pride. Wear them for me! Lol.

Blue really is a lovely color for pearls. I wasn't sure before but now, I am totally sold. I'll always love pink but now these akoyas have a soft spot in my heart.

Ok here I am , sans photos. I also got my package yesterday, so it must have been the pearl fairies busy day. ;)

I love both of my strands, one is really a silvery white while the other is more of a blue. The amazing thing is that although they look different when seperated, together they look much closer in color tone. I thought about making a double strand, but I don't think I will. I had the silver strand shortened anyway, so if I wear them together, they kind of look ike Boo's first picture. So a little gap between them instead of a true double strand. But When I do double them to see what they would look like restrung, I actually prefer the first look. And it willallow the use of each stand singly.

Love, love, love the colors. I saw a strand of bluish Akoyas here. They were round and amazing. I had never seen the color before, and the price was pretty high. But it saddened me because they had obviously been there awhile and looked kinda shunted to the side. I really hope these natural colors become more appreciated.

I do find the clasps a bit hard to deal with that size, but that is rather minor.

I really think I should dig out my camera.

Hello everyone,

Love your pictures! Thank you. :) Single-, double-, or triple-strand, they all look fabulous!

Sueki: I could just see you as a beaming, glorious mother of the bride. Enjoy the day!

Hi Debbie, Hi Sueki, Hi everybody!

I agree with all the comments of the members - they are stunningly beautiful!

Soon we will change the name of this forum to something related to photography and pearls!

Great shots, they really show off the color. I am glad everyone has liked them so far. It is nice to know I am not the only one that kind find the beauty in natural shapes and colors.

The difference in the photos from the Site and in person was somewhat intentional. We pulled the shot back a little bit which muted the colors and lowered the contrast. When shooting this way we can always be sure that what the recipient gets is better than what they expected regardless of the quality of their computer monitor.

We could do them all like this: https://www.pearl-guide.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1498

But that is not always the best idea...

Yes, but it makes a nice pin-up picture. I might swipe it for my computer screen. :)

Loved seeing all your photos! Beautiful! One of my strands arrived on Saturday, the one I bought sort of at the last minute, intending to give as a gift.

The other strand, bit more expensive, that I intended to keep for myself didn't show up on Saturday or Monday. Got a little worried and called PP and unfortunately, that strand had been double-ordered and they naturally sold it to the person who ordered it first, which was not me. :( . My fault for being so slow that weekend! Their e-mail about it must have been filtered to my junk folder or something.

Anyway, I've really enjoyed seeing all the pics. Now I have to decide if I really am going to give away the strand I have in my possession!

Oh no!! I guess that happened a few times (double orders). It's a good thing you ordered two.
p.s. If you like it you should think about keeping it since the offer may not come around again for a while. Maybe you could get your sister a different type of pearl?

Youngster: It appears we all are having to make some adjustments to our original plans. But aren't we lucky to have such decisions?

Oh yes, I am definitely glad that I ordered two strands. (Thanks to Casey for a bit of a push in that direction!) I would have been very sad to have been shut out entirely!

The strand I did receive was the less expensive strand that I ordered, but it still is very very pretty. So, I'm happy. If I can't part with it  I can always find some other lovely pearl piece for my sister. I think she'd love the baroque freshwater.
