What's the biggest size freshwater pearls available?
They don't have to be round or nice quality, just BIG.

Even low quality clustered pearls like peanut-pearls are an option. Somebody is looking for pearls around 25 mm, and I can't help him.

Yes, a South Sea in that size would be unbelievably expensive but so would one Freshwater pearl in that size. That would be a VERY rare pearl.

29mm, 26mm etc. If shape and quality don't matter, there shouldn't be any shortage of such things... Somewhere there are 3cm sisters of those too. But, sure that's not the sort of thing you're after?

thats really not that rare at all if its an elongated freshwater or as you put it "peanut shaped" pearl, they can get bigger then that.

I've never dealt in anything like that though.

I'm affraid these are too nice.
I saw a few clusters of 5 to 7 pearls in China a few weeks ago, but wasn't too interested then. They were pretty ugly. But now I would like to have a strand full of those...

Hi Sheila,

If it's the peanut-shaped pearls, 30mm length is possible. I've seen quite a few of them.

If it's a definite shape like rounds or ovals, the big freshwaters are priced same as south sea pearls more or less.

Zeide got a Vermeer Collection both in south seas and freshwaters.

Big big pearls

Hi Sheila,

I am a new member, been lurking up until now. But I do have some pearls very much like the ones Monsoon has but cheaper :) not dirt cheap though as they are nice. How many do you need and what colour are you after. I have whites and whites with pink or lavender in them. Some other tones in there too. Email if you want photos.

I hope to ask lots of questions soon about all kinds of pearls soon. :(

Depends on How poor quality and cheap you are willing to go with them. For rounds I to would suggest shell pearls. good luck in your search!

cheers

Hi Perlas and all,

I have found something that is supposed to help support the heavier earrings, it is called "Lobe Wonder". It is a small perforated adhesive patch that goes on the black of the ear lobe. It does seem to help spread the weight. So far the earrings I am using it for are NOT beautiful large pearl drops!:( But someday.......maybe.)
