Breaking the ice

Haha Alex:
I've been looking at your pictures. We've got it bad, don't we?
You have invested in some lovely pieces.

This is what I love about the Internet.
I can find any type of information, and if I'm careful, I can find really good information.
And If I'm obsessive about something, I can find fellow obsessives, and we can enjoy each other.
I am a young spat, and proud of it.
Blessed is the pearl.
Amen.
Linda. ;-)

Gorgeous earrings!! Now for the follow-up - can I suggest a bracelet of similar pearls? I just love the earrings/bracelet combination even more than the necklace/earring combination...

They look beautiful on you, well chosen!

Thanks Nerida! I agree, the bracelet is a good idea. Why not a set of both bracelet and necklace!

Hi Isabelle:
Your earrings are lovely! Thank you for posting them.
I am currently saving to fund a pearl purchase. I need to see "ear shots" like yours.
Like yourself, I am a new "spat" and loving and learning on this forum.
I too, have fallen in love with pearls. My husband sees me on the computer and always says now, (without looking);
"How are the pearls?" I am probably going to have a brain injury from staring at the screen so much.
Today I went for a run, and I could see the blue sky reflecting in some wet mud along the trail. It was a subtle iridescence, and I thought to myself; "You're going crazy. You're seeing pearls everywhere."
Have a nice day!
Linda.

Hi Linda! It's a pleasure to have another fellow spat/obsessive compulsive pearl student to share this passion with! As of my brain, it's already seriously injured. To give you an idea, i've been stalking every collegue at work to look at the pearl jewelry they're wearing... Can't wait to go pearl "hunting". I need to further train my eye! Fortunately, this pearl craziness makes my husband laugh, as I have been spending my evenings reading this forum and making reaserch (while he's playing with his iphone!) I'm aslo saving for my next piece. The only problem is to decide what I will be getting! I need to try some stuff before a make a choice.

But tell me Linda, i'm curious, what are you planning to purchase? We should make a thread called "my next piece".

Alex- haha, you're right about the gas spills on the floor! What about the iridescence in the soap bubbles my kids are blowing in the sun?

Hello Isabelle:
I bought a few humble pearls not too long ago while holidaying in Tahiti.
The last pearl was bought on Air Tahiti under the influence of a sleeping pill; I call it my Zopiclone pearl.
(a night time flight, and I didn't find out about the pearls at the back of the plane until after I'd consumed my drugs.)
Ha!
Anyway, now that I am home, I have started looking online, and found this wonderful site. And then you start to think, "Hmmm, maybe I should get something else." Maybe a strand .... Maybe a different color .... Oh lord help me, look at these sea of cortez pearls.
I am currently in correspondence with the Perlasshop people and have bought two pearls from the website for future earrings, and hopefully a pendant pearl. (This will be pushing the limits of my budget, and I am considering liquidating some other items in my jewel box.) and in addition to this, I just received a leather bracelet with one Tahitian pearl from Kamoka. It is casual and well made, and has a nice piece of mother-of-pearl on it with the Kamoka name on it. I love it.
I am confident (somewhat) that after I receive my Sea of Cortez pearls, I will sink into a corner somewhere and retreat from humanity and just stare at them all day. Chuckle. No, really though, hopefully I will be done for a while. I will enjoy this forum, cut up my credit card, and behave myself.
How's that for an answer?
Good luck to you, my fellow Canadian and pearl buddy.
Take care.
Linda.

PS Pattye; you are the helpful gal who picked out my Kamoka leather bracelet, right?
It fits perfect, and the pearl shines nicely against the black leather.
Thanks!
Linda.

Hey Linda love the Zopi-pearl thing, that's funny!

and SoCs incoming :D...... pictures pls, when they arrive

There's really something going on now on PG with SoCs - which is GREAT

Liquidation is cool, especially if it means more SoCs ........

Hi Alex:
My theory, and please correct me if you think I am wrong .... my theory is that the SoCs are kind of still "unknown".
Once the world finds them, then I will be in trouble. I figure I better get a couple while they are still "cheap". Ha!
I love having something unique.
Have a nice day Alex.
Linda.

We've all been there, Linda... I'm warning you; very slippery slope ahead :)

As for the second quote, I only have two words - "You wish!"

PG and the pearls are going to get you... ;)

Yes, the SoC pearls amount to about 5 kilos a year of harvest for the round ones. Compared to millions of tons of freshwaters and at least a ton or more of SS and Tahitians. These pearls are rare. You have to be in the know to get them or just happen to be on the right cruise ship in the Sea of Cortez!

So count yourself lucky and keep saving up, because these pearls are never the least expensive ones!

IMHO, they are the most beautiful of all! Although most of the other pearls are good enough, these are really special.

The mabe pearls show the best colors for the best prices- a lucky thing- because they can harvest more of those compared to the rounds.

Wait, stop!!! I read the word "liquidation". What's this about, where, is someone pulling a leg?
Gotta be!

Adeline- I was going to say something like that ;)! PG and the pearls got me really bad! I'm hooked already. It's Better to admit this addiction, or else it could to be worst. Beware for the Bulimia of pearls! I've been awaken to all these variety of pearls, now it's too late, the damage is done, I want Hanadama's, SoC, SS's, Thaitians and more and more and alway more... :)

Hi Linda, yes, I think you could say they were a 'bargain' (which is not quite the same as cheap)

they are very very rare by numbers (which immediately makes them expensive) - but they nevertheless sit an an affordable level

if you really like them - check out this thread.....

Caitlin: What .... no one else came up with pearlaholic? Chuckle ... hard to believe.
Alex: oh yes, oh yes ..... I have seen that thread .... the thread I keep going back to .... the thread of my undoing.

Have a nice day all.
Linda.
