Purple pearl found in clam dinner?

I found this in my dinner the other night, does anyone know what it could be? Dark purple and fades to a lighter purple on one side.

Yes, quahogs can make pearls!

Some people put them in a little cage and wear them as a pendant.

That's a nice pearl, apparently uncooked, which is fortunate. The intense purple side with its noticeable flame (even in the low-res image), begs for a ring setting that could be spectacular.

About 10-12 years ago this forum experienced an epidemic of such reports that did not produce a gem like this. Congratulations.
