My mom gave me these pearls. The picture is off of the internet though, but it's the exact same one. I want to know what kind of pearls they are, cause she said that they were real. They kinda have a flat back. They are very pretty.

Also, I would like to restring them because the clasp broke. Does anyone know what kind of string would be best? Thank You guys in Advance

Sdamns,

Welcome, what you have are cultured freshwater pearls, in "button" shape. What a sweet gift; they look very pretty! Is it possible to somehow attach another clasp without completely restringing the necklace? If it were me, I'd try that first.

There are several choices for thread, powerpro, silk, synthetic silk substitutes. Perhaps you could show a photo of the clasp? Or if the necklace is new, perhaps it could be exchanged.

The company who sold it to your mom should have the option to restring it if needed and give you clasp options. Japanese polyester is widely used though. =)
