Restringing to change clasp

Unfortunately yes, you do.
Regarding your other post, can you mail your pearls to a restringer? Pearl Paradise in L.A. does restringing and you could ask them for recommendations about a clasp that would work for you. I'm sure many people ask about that.

I have used a strong sterling silver daisy magnetic clasp for some pieces, but unfortunately it isn't available any more, neither from Rio Grande where I bought them from nor anywhere else I can see on the Internet. I'd be leery of a weak magnetic clasp if the pearls are at all heavy, personally. What size/length pearl necklaces are we talking about?
Can you manage a large hook and eye? Or a toggle?

Our member @pattye also restrings. (She gave a thumbs up to your other post.) You can click on her username to send her a message if you think you might like her to do the job. She is also on the West Coast.

I'm having the same problem with my hands. I can't work half my clasps anymore. I recently had some of my pearls restrung with big, chunky hooks. Toggles also work well, but make sure the bar is big enough that it doesn't slip out of the ring part. And you might want a bit of chain on the bar to make it easier to work, so you don't scratch the pearls.

I also find the large and small orbit clasps fairly easy to work. I have it on most of my pearls.
