Need Help what kind of Pearls do I have?

Hi,
I'm Angel and I have no idea what type of pearls I have. First they have a smooth feel to them when rubbed against each other. Second I have supplied pictures of the pearls with measure tape next to show the size of the big and small pearls and color. 3rd I have noticed a what seems to look like a 14k engraved on sliver part of latch, also provided pics of that. The History on the pearls, they were given to me by my grandmother she is currently 90 years old. She told me they were given to her by my great grandfather as a present on her 15th birthday which should date about 1939-1940, this is what she had told me but i never asked her if she knew where he purchased them, all I know is they are about 75 year old pearls maybe longer. If any one could help I would like to know what type of pearls they are and what dollar value could they have? Should I keep these pearls in safe, etc....

It's a sweet graduated strand of akoya cultured pearls. You need some pliers or a jeweler to close that loop onto the clasp.

You asked for value and storage as well. Vintage akoya are not as valuable as most people would think, considering they are real pearls. The best way to get an idea about a realistic value is to check finshed eBay auctions where similar vintage strands were sold. A replacement value will be considerably higher than a retail value.

The best thing to do with this strand is to wear it Pearls thrive next to the skin and will go all dull when stored in dry places such as vaults.
