I just bought these, what do you guys think the RRP would have been? Hard to guess! I'm also not used to seeing this type of clasp much. I have other Mikimoto jewellery but only with the traditional akoya clasp. I paid £1,100 for these before BP.

The fifty-one uniform pearls measure approximately 7.2 mm- 7.5 mm in diameter. The 18ct white gold clasp is engraved ‘MIKIMOTO 1893’ and the push catch is set with a diamond. The clasp is also marked internally with the maker’s mark and ‘Pat .No. 6,484,376 JC U.S.A. 750.’ Initial M charm attached.

Thank you guys! First post and look forward to being part of the forum.

Tiago

I found some examples online in the end, but it seems they tend to use it mostly for south sea pearls. I will take them to Mikimoto to get the re-strung and see what they say as well.

Thank you all! Very much appreciated. After spending a lot of time changing the location on the website and seeing the stock in other worldwide locations, it seems they do sell Akoya with this clasp and I found some stock in Singapore and Hong Kong. Feeling a bit more confident now and can’t wait for this purchase to arrive! ✨

They’ve arrived! That really brightened up my day coming from work! ✨

I was actually a bit worried because they were taking so long to arrive and the auction room sent them by Royal Mail which is just the worst, they loose stuff all the time.

I must say, these Mikimoto clasps are much better than the traditional ones. I have a bracelet with the traditional clasp and it’s a lot more finicky.Necklace is pretty much pristine condition.

These clasps have a really good locking system and really easy to operate, you just push the little diamond button and the clasps releases if you press down enough.

Very happy with this purchase and this necklace is a perfect every day companion. Now I’m just waiting on a couple more exciting deliveries that I will share as they come… 🤭 Now I NEED to stop buying anymore for a GOOD while 😅
