Does anyone have an educated guess as to whether this pearl is freshwater or saltwater? I looped the drill hole and can’t see a bead. It measures 11.5x10.5mm. It did come off an antique brooch.

Thank you. I believe it’s been discolored over time by the glue but there is no glue on it currently. It came from a 1910s platinum brooch. Do you think there is a chance it could be natural?
If a true antique, or close to that age, my guess would be South Sea, so saltwater. Based on shape and luster. Has adhesive discolored the area around the drill hole, or is it another material (glue)?

Yes, a possibility it could be natural. Are you planning to reattach it to the brooch? Would it be possible to show us a photo of the brooch? We love these kind of mysteries.
Yes. I can post it on Monday. It’s being repair and I will have it back Monday hence why the pearl was removed. I’m thinking of send the pearl off to be tested while it’s off.
