Exotic vs Metallic on PP

Hello. I'm new to the forum and to pearls. I was looking at Pearl Paradise's exotic and metallic stud earrings. Does exotic mean metallic? If not, what is the difference? Thanks!

Exotic colors are those that break from the norm of freshwater pearls colors and most of the time we only bring them in if they are metallic. Metallic isn't necessarily exotic. Metallic refers to the luster and exotic refers to the color.

These are white metallics, for example.

Metallic is very specific. It isn't the same as "good luster." Metallic luster has the characteristic of polished metal. It's something rare in freshwater pearls and almost exclusive to the natural colors with ocassional whites.
