Can anyone please help me identify this mark? "M" and 14K on the part of the clasp that inserts into the decorative clasp. Clasp itself looks like it had a decorative pearl glued to the post on one side of the clasp at one time. It's gone now. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
They look like akoyas to me. The M on the clasp may be of the maker of the clasp rather than of the necklace. (It is not the mark for Mikimoto).
They really need to be cleaned and restrung. If you plan to wear them, have a look at my tutorial. It's not hard to restring them yourself, and it saves money. I recommend getting a new clasp rather than trying to find a new pearl to glue onto the old one. Gold being so pricey, you can sell the old clasp for scrap.
If your intention is to sell them, I would not bother restringing them or getting a new clasp-- the buyer can do that. But it would still help to give them a bath. They will photograph better if cleaned up. Soak them for 15 minutes in a bowl of distilled water with a little mild soap added. Wipe them clean with a soft cloth, rinse in more distilled water, and lay them to dry 24 hours on a clean towel.

If after reading through this, it sounds too daunting, I suggest making a mini-strand for practice first. Make one 12-15 pearls long just so you can practice how to knot the end 3 pearls on each side and attach the clasps; the middle pearls are easy to knot.
To just practice knotting (without bothering with clasps), make an overhand knot, string on a pearl (or...
