I apologize if my questions are too broad, but where does one go to have a reliable appraisal done for a pearl necklace? Also, what is the best avenue to go in selling a necklace, ie estate dealers?

Any input is appreciated.:)

When getting your pearl necklace appraised, go to a well-established, reputable jewelry store or a store that specializes in pearl jewelry. You can sell the pearls to an estate jeweler or they may sell it on consignment. Another option is at an auction (online like Ebay or offline).

Whatever you do, don't take them to a local jeweler!

We have a number of posts with recommended appraisers- Sharon Wakefield is one whose name comes up frequently on this forum....

What do you think you have? Got pictures? We can often put in a helpful 2 bits.:D

Here's Sharon Wakefield's contact information. We've used her more times than I can count, and I have met her in person many times. She is very good.
