Regula White vs Natural White Hanadama akoya

Thank you! This is helpful. I originally thought I’d want “natural white” akoyas because I tend to like natural things, but I’m thinking “white” is what I’m ultimately looking for. I want the pearls I get to be a bit creamy; not yellow-y nor stark white.

Regula White vs Natural White Hanadama akoya

I’m sure this has been covered before but a search with the terms “white, natural white” brings up a whole, big variety of threads. I’d love to see pictures of your white and/or natural white akoyas. I’ve gotten a picture from PP, which helps, but I’d love real life examples too.

    35" or 54"?

Thank you everyone! I had been wondering what an orbit clasp was. This is a fantastic idea!

    35" or 54"?

I like the idea of an 18” hanadama with an extender. Does anyone have pictures of one and of how they look in use?

    35" or 54"?

.... so...... I guess my big decision is 22” of hanadama akoya round or AAA akoya round. I think the price difference would be substantial. Hmmm....

    35" or 54"?

Pattye, oh yes! I keep putting on different lengths of “pearls” (the plastic kind that even have seams 😂) and asking my husband and daughter which length looks best. They seem to like 22”. I’d love an akoya hanadama set in 22” but might need to get that as a custom. Or.... an 18” in hanadama...

How very pretty! What mm are these? (The long ones in the second photo).

    35" or 54"?

With 26” strands is freshwater more typical? Or is it available in akoya? Search functions only show 26” in freshwater (at least at PP).

    35" or 54"?

I hope it’s ok to resurrect a thread. The older threads here are full of such great information! I was originally thinking I wanted an 18” strand of akoyas, but now I’m not so sure. What would be a good length for someone over 50, 5’3”, and who wears a lot of flannel or tee shirts and sometimes...

Hi, I’m new here but have been interested in your posts. I love your weaving posts since I like knitting. I have a spinning wheel but have not been able to use it very often. I’m currently trying to come up with my pearl purchasing plan. The more I read, the more I learn about pearls AND the...

    Gem Show?

I’ve been going over each reply. Thank you everyone! Another question, now completely off topic from my title on this post.... I was intending on getting a pendant with white gold but it seems pearls are more often paired with yellow gold. With my skin tone, white gold looks much better, but I...

    Gem Show?

I’m getting the feeling that in these parts drop pearls are more desirable in pendants than round. Is there any truth to my feeling? It’s so fun to have my eyes opened to so many other possibilities.

    Gem Show?

I’m having trouble finding pictures of pendants here. There are so many beautiful necklaces and tin cups (which I had never heard of before), but not so many pendants.

    Gem Show?

I was just looking at some drops and was asking myself the same question. I originally was only considering round, but now drops might be a contender.

    Gem Show?

This is good information. I’ll go to the show to enjoy but will continue looking through the online sites for the pendant my husband will get me for our anniversary. 😉 Do the online sites generally have sales in February as well? I was originally looking at the akoyas, but am now looking at...

    Gem Show?

I have a renewed interest in pearls and am hoping to find just the right pendant for myself. I have been looking through so many posts here and now have a good idea at what online shops to search. There will be a gem show near me in a few months and I’m wondering if that’s also a good place to...
