    Rice Krispy Pearl Necklace Quality

Oh yes, I totally agree with you on this, Pearl Dreams, but only to a point. With eBay auctions, I find some sellers will lose out if they list low with high hopes and don't get the desired results. I generally look at listing prices on the site I do sell on as well as listings (sold and listed)...

    Rice Krispy Pearl Necklace Quality

yes, this is what I've been reading and as I search for similar necklaces, I'm seeing prices ranging from $60 - $160 (roughy). How does one come to these prices? Most of the ones I've looked at have attractive gold clasps and in the plus/minus $100 range. My thinking is many are over-priced.

    Rice Krispy Pearl Necklace Quality

East Coast Canadian Greetings, Lovely Pearl Experts! I so value and appreciate the help I've gotten in the past. I have this pretty rice krispy necklace with a 14k gold clasp and beads that I'm planning to sell. The pearls have a nice lustre and iridescence but there are a few duds that are...

    Pearl Finds and Confusion

I have some jewelry stamped .925 that can fool the eye but under a 10x loupe, there are tell-tale signs that something's amiss. I did test the gold clasp and it tested positive for 14kt gold. China made knock-offs are plentiful in the thrift shop where I get many of my best finds.

    Anything special about these pearls?

They do! Unfortunately, I don't care for wearing bracelets and as a country dweller, no special occasions for wearing pearls. They'll get listed in my online store.

    Pearl Finds and Confusion

Thank you! Yes, I have a gold testing kit and have yet to test it.

    Anything special about these pearls?

Since I'm obsessing over pearls today, perhaps some could shed some light on this pretty pearl bracelet with a 10kt gold clasp. I find this bracelet to be quite charming. The second last pearl on the O ring side of the clasp has a beautiful lustre and then 2 flat circles opposite each other...

    Pearl Finds and Confusion

Greetings! I've been making myself a little crazy trying to figure out how to tell dyed freshwater pearls. I have a pretty good idea regarding peacock pearls (sorry if my terminology is incorrect) but I'm not sure about this button pearl necklace with purple/mauve (potato?) pearls. And I also...

Vintage Pearl Drop Earrings - Akoya?

Wonderful! Someone had told me that a jeweller told her that white topaz was commonly used in older jewelry. The stones have lots of sparkle but I'm really more interested in what type of pearls they are. As for the mark on the back '39 - 41', perhaps it will remain a mystery mark. Thanks so...

Vintage Pearl Drop Earrings - Akoya?

I'm quite familiar with the tooth test and rubbing the pearls together. When I saw them, I thought there was no way they were pearls but when I rubbed them together, I was doing my happy dance. I didn't see the gold stamp till after I got home. The insides of the screws are stamped 14k. I have...

Vintage Pearl Drop Earrings - Akoya?

I've posted here in the past about pearls and you've been most helpful. I recently found these pretty pearl screwback earrings at a thrift store and all I know for sure is they are 14k white gold with some clear stones that could be white topaz (diamond tester showed they're not diamonds). I'm...

    Another pearl question...

Awesome! The rings being characteristic of freshwater pearls and the flat sides is a great tidbit of knowledge. Thanks so much! Michelle

    Another pearl question...

I posted not too long ago about some pearl hoop earrings and you were so very helpful. I do appreciate it very much. I have another piece, a baroque pearl bracelet with a 10k gold clasp. The lustre is not quite matching the pearl hoops but they do have a nice iridescence (orient?). The thing...

Help, please with these pearl hoop earrings

Well, Wendy.. I'm a city gal at heart gone country. You might see me in gum boots but I'd be throwing a frisbee to my dog! And I wear diamonds on my ears and a matching pendant that my hubs gifted to me. :o

Help, please with these pearl hoop earrings

Thank you so much! I won't be keeping them as I don't wear a lot of jewelry now that I'm a country bumpkin. I plan to sell them and I'm a stickler for accurate descriptions on my vintage wares! Michelle

Help, please with these pearl hoop earrings

I scored a sweet pair of vintage pearl hoop earrings on 14kt gold wires. There are eleven 5 mm pearls on each earring. After taking about 1000 photos , I finally have some images that work. A black or white only background produced many varied results! One pearl has some missing...

Looking to know what I have here....

Thank you for your reply and great information. I did not think I had Tahitians and I do realize they might be a harder sell but they are definitely genuine pearls. Could one assume 80s or 90s era on these? And if this did appeal to a buyer, what would be a reasonable asking price? I have no...

Looking to know what I have here....

Hello! I'm so glad to have found this forum as I'm trying to learn about some recent pearl treasures I've found. I'm good with the pearl test so I know they're real and I've read up on a few things such as Akoya pearls, Tahitian pearls, how cultured pearls are treated, irradiated, dyed and...
