It's always fascinating to look at gems, stones and pearls through a loupe! And a loupe is oh so helpful with untangling knots gone awry!!

Help with information- fake vintage single graduated necklace silver clasp, age? Any value?

The clasp has marcasite stones, adding sparkle and possibly dating the clasp to the 1940-1950's.

New to pearls and curious about these I found?

I agree, ringed freshwaters. It is difficult to explain. The colors lay differently on Tahitians. One seldom sees bright green and bright blue on the same pearl. Strong blue is rare in 1 Tahitian pearl, even more rare to have a strand with many blues. Shapes are off, as A Breaker mentioned...

Mikimoto Pouch but not Mikimoto Necklace?

Welcome to the forum, Hasha. My research indicates that Blue Lagoon pearls will have the clasp marked with BL, not the Mikimoto logo with the M inside the shell. This clasp looks like a commonly used fish hook clasp. I do see the 14k mark on the clasp insert, but nothing that indicates these...

    Weird pearls

Just a thought, perhaps, after cleaning, take the best pearls to make a necklace and use a blue gemstone like apatite to coordinate and alternate with the pearls.

    Weird pearls

Long Potato, If you want to try bleaching, you might use hydrogen peroxide greatly diluted with distilled water. Perhaps test with just a few pearls. This is NOT something I have done. First, though, I would give them a bath in mild cleaner like Dr. Bronner castile soap and see if that would...

Help with information- fake vintage single graduated necklace silver clasp, age? Any value?

Imitation pearls may have a high sentimental value, but not much dollar value. Is there a story with this strand?

I need to know how much these worth

Mode, We don't have a way to tell what your pearls are worth; that can only be done by an appraiser looking at your pearls in person. However, if you could take a few more photos of the pearls on a white paper towel, we could see them more clearly. Is the clasp Karat gold? What size are the...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

@J.lee Your strand seems to flow nicely alternated like this! You've done a lovely job of stringing, so I'd wear them like this for awhile. You can always restring the later!

    Authentic South Sea Pearls?

BWeaves, I wondered about the clasp also. It's described as moissonite and gold filled, but I doubt that clasp could be true gold filled. Somehow the color of the pearls look more like freshwater to me with the overtones than SS.

    Anyone have stick pearls?

J.Lee, Sounds like a lovely idea! I especially love colored pearls; I just wear what I like, and don't think much about matching skintone or clothes.

    Authentic South Sea Pearls?

There's a very short turnaround if you wish to return. I have no idea what amount you'd pay for duty & customs. The price seems very low. Seems risky to me also.

Please educate me about my pearls

David1, welcome to the forum. You have a very pretty strand of Chinese cultured freshwater pearls. They are bead nucleated and natural color. The ripples and irregularities in the nacre are part of their charm! The clasp appears to be gold plated with inset cz or crystals. You didnt mention...

I'd like to ask the members of the Pearl Guide community what you think of Ethiopian opal jewelry?

Pearls are our #1 love around here! This forum is for discussing everything about pearls, so perhaps finding a forum for opal lovers will be more suitable for your topic.

Mikimoto fake or weird transitional era clasp?

How interesting, JMichaels, and a mystery ~ here's my thought after looking at the enlarged photo of the clasp. The marking on the back is authentic to my eye. Examining the front, I conclude there once was a small pearl on a post. The pearl was lost and your Mother decided to have the cup and...
