Anyone identify these old pearls please ? Or any idea of a listing price for eBay ?

It is also going to depend on your feedback & what you have listed. Check solds & completed...then pick middle of the prices. Also check the string gently...you don't want them to break during shipping.

Do these appear to be genuine Tahitian?

Oh Pattye apply to authenticate Vintage Mikimotos with Silver clasps!!!! Get to see amazing pearls & fix the problem of x-raying silver rhodium plated Mikimoto clasps!!! (They can't pass anything unless it will x-ray & rhodium blocks x-rays) So a totally authentic Vintage Mikimoto w/paperwork...

Do these appear to be genuine Tahitian?

eBay has the same authenticators for all jewelry...it is the luck of the draw where it gets sent. They verify real or not real pearls (maybe what kind, but I don't know) and the metal, size, color & anything else specified. But it has to be pretty expensive or Mikimoto or Tiffany to be give...

    Necklace for identification

Could you post a photo of the back of the clasp?? I am so curious!!! I have never seen that type of clasp with the bead cups too!

    Akoya or South Sea?

Pearl Dreams had a really good photo of faux vs real surface under a loupe... The faux looks like a car's paint job that wasn't done very well... real is so much smoother, no tiny bumps. Also look at the drill holes for the bead or paint build up. I would be really concerned that you only got...

My Great Aunt Left Me These…

Lee...those should sell in Nashville... remember to tell them that they are Vintage Japanese Saltwater Akoyas. Some jewelers don't know what kind of pearls they are, unless they got them from a wholesaler and just call them pearls. You might look on eBay to help with pricing, but a...

Found pearls that belonged to great grandmother do they look real Ty in advance

Another little itsy bitsy thing: Bleached Akoyas yellow and you might find that is not a color that sells in the future. I have seen stunning akoyas from the 40's-50's, but if they are out of style in some way...you will have a hard time selling them, when you need the $$$. Even Gold prices...

Mikimoto fake or weird transitional era clasp?

Hopefully Pattye can help...she dealt with Mikimoto's in the 80's and might have seen a time when the clasp was more plain. My other suggestion is do a google lens search...it will often find hidden things similar. But would your mother have purchased a Mikimoto with 18k new? Did she go to...

Is this a 12 strand pre pearl culture era necklace?

So funny...as a kid, my grandmother gave me this wonderful book set in the Middle East about a town that valued cheating travelers and how a certain traveler made the town regret their valuing cheating. I often think of that story in regard to pearls... some it just totally mistakes or lack of...

How Do You Store Your Pearls? Show Us!

Any books or Websites on Vintage Japanese pearl Jewelry names and/or marks?

A new one...any ideas...looks like Mt Fuji in front of a house? On the back of a Akoya Sterling Brooch. Ideas? Sorry about the bad photo!

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Thanks Jeg!! I love, love this thread for all the lovely ways to wear & string pearls! I have Tahitians that are too short for my neck, while I have lost weight, they are still too short, but I have a tahitian mixed bracelet that would help. I THINK I am going to restring the bracelet on the...

Clearing Up a Common Myth About Freshwater Pearls

Always a good reminder! It is possible a new person posted that! I laughed when I saw "Natural Freshwater Pearls" somewhere (Not here) recently...but the photo was Chinese nucleated freshwaters...obviously cultured! I know the person meant "natural" to mean "not man made faux pearls"... but...

    Dye still coming off...help!!!

Pella...great idea! Acetone doesn't hurt pearls..I may try that. It has got to do something to the dye. If I didn't like the color...I would just toss them...but the color is getting really lovely! It might be that the dye is coming from the string too It seems like they weren't properly...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

@jeg How do you arrange the pearls? I feel lost with this kind of thing, but have some I need to string. Do you have a system that you start with? Are there any pearl arranging principles that you can share? I am assuming it takes a couple of tries until you like it but, any starting tips...

    uodora?

I have several big agate necklaces...I haven't worn them all day yet...I keep thinking I will have a sore neck or knock them against something hard. I do like the ones on the right...much, much better....those flat sided ones just bother me, don't know why, seems so unnatural. But the weight...
