The problem with pearls with these little extensions is that they can break off, so one wants to be careful with them.

I hope they arrive safely and that you enjoy them. I consider my strand to be of rather low quality as far as baroque akoyas go, but they are fun and I paid very little for them on eBay some years back. The necklace is about 32-33" long and I wear them doubled, twisted, with a pearl shortener...

I can see the listing. They are definitely akoyas!

The rounded part of the pearl is where the bead nucleus is. The little extension is all nacre, and very lustrous.

Those look like baroque akoyas. I have an endless strand that is very much like that, and around the same size. Edted to add photos I just took now. Bad lighting, but you'll get the idea.

True-- the pearls I wore at my wedding were 6mm, but with an enhancer pendant. That worked for my dress's neckline. Oh, and my pearls, and the enhancer, were imitation. Nice imitations, the best-- Majorica-- but still fake. I'll bet a lot of wedding pearls are fake. :unsure:

I agree entirely. Very nice enhancer, added later. Necklace itself seems quite generic.

Years ago I picked up a large Melo shell in a shop in Florida. I was surprised how light it was for its size.

These appear to be imitation pearls.

Given that the pearls are baroque and lower grade, and that there are no marks to indicate brand, I don't think any of them are Mikimoto.
