Mikimoto A vs. PP Hanadama vs. PP AAA

Another option to buying both and returning one is to do a zoom call with PP, and they can show you the two strands side by side. However, the gold standard test is on her own skin, especially as one is pinked and the other is not.

    What are they...50's - 60's

The problem with pearls with these little extensions is that they can break off, so one wants to be careful with them.

    What are they...50's - 60's

I dug out this old photo of them...I have a wire wrapped tourmaline slice pendant hanging from them with an enhancer bail:

    What are they...50's - 60's

Absolutely! I even wear my best pearls when grocery shopping. :giggle:

    What are they...50's - 60's

I hope they arrive safely and that you enjoy them. I consider my strand to be of rather low quality as far as baroque akoyas go, but they are fun and I paid very little for them on eBay some years back. The necklace is about 32-33" long and I wear them doubled, twisted, with a pearl shortener...

    What are they...50's - 60's

I can see the listing. They are definitely akoyas!

    What are they...50's - 60's

The rounded part of the pearl is where the bead nucleus is. The little extension is all nacre, and very lustrous.

    What are they...50's - 60's

Those look like baroque akoyas. I have an endless strand that is very much like that, and around the same size. Edted to add photos I just took now. Bad lighting, but you'll get the idea.

Mikimoto A vs. PP Hanadama vs. PP AAA

True-- the pearls I wore at my wedding were 6mm, but with an enhancer pendant. That worked for my dress's neckline. Oh, and my pearls, and the enhancer, were imitation. Nice imitations, the best-- Majorica-- but still fake. I'll bet a lot of wedding pearls are fake.

Mikimoto A vs. PP Hanadama vs. PP AAA

I don't have any AAAs. I have a pair of Hanadama studs from them (not natural white) and a strand of baroque akoyas (no grade assigned). Both are pinked, but as you can see, they do not look pink against my skin. Is your wife-to-be quite petite? The reason I ask is that 6-7mm is a smallish...

Mikimoto A vs. PP Hanadama vs. PP AAA

Welcome to Pearl Guide! As your future wife doesn't have a brand preference, I'd skip Mikimoto at that grade level. I'm sure their A grade is very nice -- anything Mikimoto is going to be lovely-- but I believe the natural whites from PP would be even better. You may like to have a look at the...

Freshwater pearls necklace help to identify maker

I initially thought it was a mabe/blister pearl but now looking again at the photos it seems to be an entire, separate pearl. So-- cultured/farmed, or natural? I'm not sure! Perhaps @Lagoon Island Pearls can weigh in? Or @jshepherd or @CortezPearls ? By the way, there are many kinds of...

Freshwater pearls necklace help to identify maker

You wished for us to be able to identify the maker of the pearls, the brand. However, these are not of any particular brand-- thus they are generic-- by definition. There are a great many pearls sold that are generic/unbranded. In and of itself, being generic doesn't mean they can't be really...

Freshwater pearls necklace help to identify maker

I agree entirely. Very nice enhancer, added later. Necklace itself seems quite generic.

    Melo Amphora Pearl

Years ago I picked up a large Melo shell in a shop in Florida. I was surprised how light it was for its size.

    Help identify please.

These appear to be imitation pearls.

    Is this a Mikimoto brooch

Given that the pearls are baroque and lower grade, and that there are no marks to indicate brand, I don't think any of them are Mikimoto.
