A great size, for both the necklace and the earring pearls. Eye-catching but still very wearable. My GSS drop shaped dangles are also 12.6mm and I don't find them too heavy at all. (And I don't like to wear heavy earrings).

What type of pearls are these?

Handmade by someone who liked that aesthetic or who just wanted to experiment a bit. Maybe they didn't have enough FWP to make as long a necklace as they wished so they alternated with imitation pearls. That's the nice thing about making your own jewelry-- you can do whatever you like with it...

    Rice Krispies?

I agree, not rice krispies. I have some of these in a natural lavender color, bought at Intergem in the early 2000s.

Help me identify this pearl necklace! I think it is vintage Tasaki

The greatest value is its sentimental value. :) For replacement value-- for insurance purposes (but you don't need to insure these)-- you can look online to see what similar size / length / quality necklaces sell for at retail. For resale value (which is lower than replacement value), you...

Help me identify this pearl necklace! I think it is vintage Tasaki

They are akoyas. Based on multiple posts on this forum that the Tasaki mark was a T inside a shell (similar to Mikimoto's mark) I'd say they are Tasaki. If you would like to restring them better, we have information on how to do that. Here is my tutorial...

Looking for advice: My authentic Mikimoto pearls won't sell on eBay: what am I doing wrong?

Do you have multiple clear photos, accurate description, and is your listing price reasonable? (You can check sold listings on eBay for what similar items have sold for, for comparison.) If so, it may just take some time for the item to sell.

    Heavy 66" Strand..

I agree, non-beaded nucleated freshwaters, some having nice luster.

    Pearls need identification please

They are baroque akoya pearls. :) If you would like to wear them, they should be cleaned and restrung. To clean them, put them in a bowl of distilled water in which you've swished a little mild soap. After 15 minutes or so, wipe them clean with a soft cloth, then rinse them in more distilled...

    Identification Help

Yes, they are lower quality. There are a lot of imperfections in the nacre, but the rings are not considered imperfections. Still-- you can enjoy them! Most pearls have some imperfections, however minor.

Welcome to Pearl Guide! :) The pearls are freshwater pearls from China. The dark ones are dyed.

    14k Hong Kong Pearls W or M maker’s mark

Many of the pearls have a milky look. That's because the bead shows through the thin nacre, which is transparent.

    Pearl Necklace from Beijing

Well, then I think they are akoyas. I hope you are just wondering about their value and not trying to sell them. They are pretty and a very wearable size. Besides, they have sentimental value! And that is often the greatest value when it comes to pearls. I got a manual typewriter for my h.s...

    Pearl Necklace from Beijing

This is interesting. I'm on the fence. I'm leaning toward akoyas based on roundness, color, surface characteristics and the estimated time of purchase, if that is accurate. However, round-to-the-eye, all-nacre freshwaters began to appear around this time -- or just a few years later. I bought...
