Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

You know @BWeaves this is going back a post or two but I am loving your mismatched pistachio earrings! I feel like mismatched earrings is going to be a huge trend very soon. It took me a minute to get used to it but now I'm on board.

A short interview with Mr. Kiyoshi Yoneguchi of Seiwa Pearl - Lake Kasumi ga Ura

I deleted my question since this thread is to honor Mr. Yoneguchi and his beautiful pearls. I was just a little shocked to realize I had never actually seen Kasumi pearls until last night! Hoping to see at least a couple in person someday :)

    which Akoya pearl overtone?

@jeg those studs are gorgeous! It's great to see the different overtones lined up like that.

    which Akoya pearl overtone?

This thread continues! Thanks to the current 20% off sale (and redeeming my points!) I was able to order a pair of natural white hanadama earrings from Pearl Paradise. I think there's going to be a big color difference between this pair and the rosé hanadamas, and I can see the natural whites...

    which Akoya pearl overtone?

haha I actually stole that from a different thread! I did not have to ask what it meant. :)

    which Akoya pearl overtone?

Thanks everyone for the replies and great photos! I did end up buying both and going with the rose overtone for a non-pertinent reason: I got screw backs on the white pair and HATED them. Rather not spend five minutes a day twisting on my ear so that it's bright red like an old-time schoolboy's...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Those Biwa pearls are beautiful! I'm taking the pearls as one course and recently got to the Biwa pearls chapter. Oddly enough, the Biwa pearls on ebay don't look like this :cautious: It's nice to see some real ones.

    Are these nice pearls?

Thanks Douglas and @BWeaves. Your point about seeing the pearls is well taken. Now that I'm looking at the vintage strands I bought on ebay, I can really see the differences between them. I love two and regret two, this bracelet is one of the strands I regret! Thanks again for your help.

    Are these nice pearls?

So I just got these yesterday. They are real (4-5 pearls at the ends of the bracelet have ripple blemishes, they pass the black light test). BUT I think I can see how they are low quality. Pics below. The first three are this bracelet next to the Pearl Paradise freshadama bracelet (which just...

    which Akoya pearl overtone?

Thank you! How about white vs rose? I think rose overtones look good on me, based on another necklace I have. But I worry they will be too pink to go with everything. Really I have no problem with the white, I just want to make sure I get this choice right because after this im never buying...

    which Akoya pearl overtone?

I'm thinking about getting some hanadama Akoya pearl studs from The Pearl Source, but am having trouble choosing an overtone (white, ivory, or rose). Their website has a video about overtones that makes the rose look really pink (too pink) and the ivory like a happy medium between rose and...

    Are these nice pearls?

Pattye about the bracelet they did say the clasp was 14k.

    Are these nice pearls?

If you're curious, here are the graduated Akoyas and the necklace that (to my eyes) has less luster. I know both are real from doing the black light test, but the graduated pearls seem like better quality. There's just so much I need to learn!

    Are these nice pearls?

I can't wait to get these and solve the mystery! They should be here next week and I will definitely post photos. I also ordered a freshadama bracelet from Pearl Paradise, so there can even be comparison photos. Honestly I might have wasted some money on eBay by buying vintage pearls in the...

    Are these nice pearls?

I don't have them in hand yet either! Just purchased. I'll do the tooth and black light tests, for sure.
