Hello everyone,

Would appreciate some help as I'm completely clueless when it comes to pearls. I've been meaning to get my graduating daughter (18) a gift before she goes off to college and a friend offered hers. I have no idea what I'm doing but she was kind enough to lend me the necklace to show to review. For reference, the price agreed is $1500 which is right up my budget for jewelry. She says it's a fair price for second hand pearls of this quality.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I really would rather not mess this up. Thanks again.

Yes, a good price for Mikimoto pearls!

They need to be cleaned and restrung. Mikimoto can do that for a rather high price, and they can issue a certificate to go with them for an extra fee.

Alternatively you can just have another jeweler restring them. I know Pearl Paradise offers (or used to offer) a restringing service. I can't find a link just now. Call them, if that is what you would like to do. https://www.pearlparadise.com/
.

Thank you so much for the advice. Pulled the trigger on this one. Just looking for time to have them cleaned
Gorgeous pearls! Way to go!
(I wonder what the cost is for Mikimoto but if I had them I would respect them and only let Mikimoto handle the pearls as they are respectable and tidy, and well there’s a reason they’re so expensive….quality, and secrets in maintaining quality)
