Hello all and happy Sunday. I have an identification issue and in desperate need of assistance from the Experts On All Things Mikimoto. I inherited this very lovely Mikimoto pearl necklace almost 3 years ago (see below!), and try as I might, I cannot find one iota of information on it (i.e., date, style line, origination, etc). I could understand if it was a vintage creation, but this one appears to be somewhat newer. I searched everything regarding "Mikimoto enamel" thinking perhaps it may have been part of an enamel line they created, but there was nothing. Maybe Japan? My search there was limited and their main store branch had nothing either. So at this point I'm thinking that Miki only made one and then thought the hell with it (kidding). I am praying someone here might have maybe seen this necklace, or maybe knows someone who has? I have often thought of contacting their NY office (I have to call and not email because their site will not allow the uploading of pics, which was probably done on purpose to curtail people like me from wasting their time begging for information. So I never called. My fingers are crossed and I am hoping the Mikimoto pearl experts here can shed some light on this or at least point me in the right direction, or in any direction for that matter. I cannot die and pass this task on to my 2 daughters -- they're ill-equipped and will lack the stamina. The necklace is 18k with diamonds, 8mm pearls, and gold designs embossed upon a black enamel background. Fully marked on the back. (Sometimes you can tell if the piece was created in Japan by the style font that was used when stamping the gold content, but this one appears borderline, so I'm not discounting it.) Anyway, you guys are great and I hope you enjoy what is remaining of the weekend!

Stunning! I will look through my book, Pearl Necklace, which is all Mikimoto necklaces, and see if it happens to be included. (This is a huge coffee table book, not a catalogue of everything they've made.) Will look now and post again.

So-- I looked at the entire book page by page, and that one didn't happen to be included.

Mikimoto will certify their own jewelry for a fee (a rather stiff fee.) You would have to ship it to them. But you can get certification of authenticity and replacement value if you feel it is worth doing so (for insurance purposes or even just for information.)

What I want to know is-- are you going to wear it? :) :):)

I love it! Why am I not surprised that such a book exists and that it is helping this pearl site?! Have fun perusing!

Your only information may be the hallmarks; I hope that's not too disappointing. It's a beautiful necklace, wear it in good health.

Really appreciate your time Pearl Dreams. And thanks for the certification info as I did not know that (gosh I love this site). I'll probably get it done as some point because, as said in the Dirty Harry movie, "I's gots to know." Oh, and yes, I do plan on wearing it. I'm wearing Miki pearls now and I'm in my jammies! It was a pleasure talking with you Pearl Dreams. Have a nice and relaxing Sunday evening. 🦋

Hello again Pearl Dreams. You were so right in saying a Mikimoto certification is going to be costly -- $400. I'll be passing on that.
