They look like small died freshwater pearls to me. Probably selected for the look alone (not value). Could be wrong, of course... I am assuming these are well less than 5mm each, to keep the earrings into proportion. Also that if they were some type of unusual natural pearls, the seller would have pointed that out proudly, even if they are so small etc.

Am I right to guess these are high carat gold designs? Gurhan? They look great, no matter what those pearls are.

If you wanted particular value from the pearl's part, I am afraid that this might call for custom work.

They bring to mind two things: one - a paisley earring design using tiny, multicolor natural pearls by Valle, and the mention of a hoard of 2-4mm wild pearls by a poster a week or so ago!

Just a thought... I am no expert :)

Yes, those are hand made earrings in 18 kt. gold. The pearls are
6.5mm - 7mm. they are big.
I was told by the seller in the auction house, that they were delivered by owners and beside checking on gold, they have no idea about the pearls. This photo shows them better.
Their evaluation for the auction is 900 - 1100 us$. but examining other pearls items, I found out that they have no idea about pearls, prices ect. They also offer?... "Moby" pearl ring?...

the pearls really don't have any value as they just look like small freshwater pearls. If you like the piece and think that price is fair for the design and weight of the gold, then go for it.

Finally decided not to buy them. They were sold for 650 us$.

Hi Nora,
Normally if one said 18k and pearl in the same breath to me I would be all over it!!, and maybe in person these earrings would be fab. However from the photo the design just seems to lack cohesiveness . Maybe they would sit on the ear correctly with the omega back. I hope for you something even more wonderful and with a better price comes along!! And this won't always be the "one that got away.";)

Pattye,

That is exactly what I was thinking about them, I went even further thinking that they were a bit vulgar, I sat at the auction ready to spend 350$, convinced that they will sell higher?..
Auctions always have the combination of interesting goods and adrenaline.
