It's that time again. Well, it's always that time - I managed to get some great pieces during the July sale but didn't have much luck with the Connoisseur sale (did buy ombre SS earrings that were much too big and fancy for little old me, but I do have pictures because they were still pretty. Will show them off later - hope someone else gets to enjoy them who'll fit). Still, I really liked the FWP and Galatea tahitian drops and asked Pearl Paradise if they could do a similar design with an ordinary pearl. :) What do you lovelies think of the options Lynsey has given me? Which are your favorites?

I like 'em all so as usual, I'm in trouble. Top to bottom (bronze pair is 'the top', first photo got flipped around): 9-10mm, 10-11mm, 9-10mm, 10-11mm.

Sometimes I really hate having dark hair that's too short to pull back. I'm loving the perfect green drops but I'm also pretty sure no one will be able to see them against my hair either. :/ But the bronze is really pretty too, and the teal! Agh!

Personally I like the second pair from the top down for the shape and colour of the pearls.

DK :)

Same here. So, what're we looking at for the top pearls, metallicFW? Are they drops in some cases?

I like the silver green bottom pair...they look pretty paired with the white pearls, and will stand out against dark hair.
eta: I like all of the combos, so really you cannot go wrong! The lighter pair just speaks to me differently than the others.

Sometimes the colour of pearl we like isn't the colour which really suits. Is there a way for you to try the different colours against your skin?

I'm thinking that if you don't like earrings too big, you might want to go for the smallest pair as they are all lovely. Or it could just be posts you want smaller.

Personally I find I don't wear large drop earrings either and putting two pearls together ends up being both larger and heavier than you might think at first. I have a project in my drawer with a facetted morganite rondelle and a drop shaped pink pearl and still I hesitate, not feeling sure if it'll more than I feel comfortable with (bracelets are another matter :))

Thank you, all! :>

You are indeed looking at white metallic freshwaters and....I'm going to end up getting both. Not just right now. But I like the silver-green paired with the white better, so I'm purchasing those first. Turns out that they're actually 11-12 mm, but Linsey hadn't realized until just this week, so she's letting me have them for the cost of the smaller size. Which is fantastic, honestly, I've been eyeing a pair of silver-green Kamokas for ages but I can't justify paying more than $600 for simple stud earrings. If I lived in studs, maybe, because Kamokas really are lovely, but I don't. I vastly prefer dangles so I think I just wanted the Kamokas for the color, which I am now getting twice over. Squee!

I couldn't let those perfect dark green drops go, though, so Linsey is kindly holding them for me until I can think of a design that I feel suits them a little better. I really like how easygoing Pearl Paradise is about holding things and customizing and all that good stuff, as well as sending photos and detailed descriptions before you buy, AS WELL as having such things as waiting lists for specific pearls (I adore strongly-colored Tahitians. I'm holding out for blues). It just makes everything easier.

Thank you all for your input. I actually was able to test things against my skin since I have a pair of blue-green studs with a similar body color and luster as the drops, and my very first Tahitian jewelry was a pair of silver-blues I made into earrings myself. It doesn't make a ton of difference on me, honestly, since I have olive skin and I can wear a pretty wide range of colors against it, with the exception of yellow. I've wanted gold south sea for quite a long time but I'm too chicken to order it online without trying on - cream and gold does look nice on me, but yellow DOES NOT. One step in the wrong shade direction and it makes me look ill.

Size isn't entirely a problem either. I actually like wearing larger dangles in my ears, 10-12 mm, it's proportioned nicely for me. The problem I run into is earring length. I have a short neck and wide face, so 2" is my absolute limit and I don't even usually like to reach it. Such long earrings, on me, look very formal and showy, and that's such a contrast to my personality I'm not comfortable with it. I prefer to have nice things that people can notice and appreciate if they look, without waving my arms and shouting "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!" in order to get them to. The ombre earrings were lovely. But they were also very, very showy, very long, and I think overkill if worn with any kind of pattern. So back they went. :)

I'm hopeful two pearls will work out nicely. I have a 3-tier of Kamokas from Kojima pearl that I kept and like well enough - it's still a *little* big, because pearls having volume adds to the space they take up, but it's also still in my comfort zone and I've worn them quite a few times since getting them. They're beautiful pearls and better proportioned for me, which makes me think that maybe a 2-pearl combo will be my sweet spot. We shall see!
