Plated Pearls???

This is another example of "Plated" Baroque Pearls". And the sales title literally has the word plated in it. So what are they doing? She would not elaborate. Have they devised a plating method or is plated a word for perhaps kintsugi treatment of epic proportions? As you can see, these look like they have been coated. I am not a pro but my eyes are good and they look rather shiny...

Again, I can see no metal. Probably a mis-translation. I don't think you mean kintsugi either...perhaps maeshori?
Coating pearls in a lacquer is done to make dull pearls look better quality. Since the shine only lasts as long as the lacquer most people avoid such pearls.
