Plated Pearls???

And the sales title literally has the word plated in it. So what are they doing? She would not elaborate. Have they devised a plating method or is plated a word for perhaps kintsugi treatment of epic proportions? As you can see, these look like they have been coated. I am not a pro but my eyes are good and they look rather shiny...
 
Again, I can see no metal. Probably a mis-translation. I don't think you mean kintsugi either...perhaps maeshori?
Coating pearls in a lacquer is done to make dull pearls look better quality. Since the shine only lasts as long as the lacquer most people avoid such pearls.
