All I could find when searching for Mikado pearl on this forum was this thread with limited information.
I have to say from the photos in your previous post they look like imitation pearls. However that may be because the pearls are quite grimy. They will probably look a lot better after a gentle bath. I suggest you use warm distilled water with a bit of mild soap, wipe them clean with a soft cloth and rinse with more distilled water, then lay them flat to dry for 24 hours on a clean soft towel.
They do not need to be insured-- they do not have that sort of value, even if they are akoyas rather than imitation. If you like them after cleaning them and would like to wear them, I suggest restringing them with a new clasp. I have a tutorial, if you would like to do it yourself; many of us do. It's not hard --and professional restringing can be pricey.
