Genuine South Sea?

I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions on if this is a genuine South Sea...

It reminds me a lot about a large SSP enhancer I have. How big is it?

Asking the experts here: If this shot is five years old, isn't it too early for the Chinese to have developed the large round pearls they make today?

These aren't my pictures, so I don't know if the date stamp is correct. It's supposedly about 10 MM.

Hmm, hard to say.
I think that on the first picture it looks like a genuine SS.
The second picture with the coin, i think the color looks a bit weird.
10 MM is a small ss pearl.
All my SS are between 10,5 - 17 mm

Thanks for your opinions, I thought the color looked funny on the 2nd picture too, kind of too intense and "orange". The bail also looks a litle off. I'll pass on this one, thanks

Sometimes under a white light or strong light, the colour of golden SSPs can appear very intense, especially in photos. For example like this strand that was simply taken under indirect sunlight from a window.

In the first photo it does look like an SSP, the second photo's colour could be due to the lighting. What shape is the pearl? It doesn't look round in the first picture. And SSPs can start at smaller sizes, what people call "baby SSP", not to be confused with freshwaters that are being fraudulently sold as "baby SSP". SSPs start from as small as 7.5mm.

^^Thank you for the info! It is described as "button shaped", but it appears in the photos more of a drop shape to me.
