    Found in a big bag o’ junk…

Yes! A few of them had been worn right down. I took them out but haven’t had the heart to toss them- somebody wore the heck out of these pearls and probably treasured them!

Thank you! I was curious about that too- I wondered if hair (or more likely, hair products) contributed to the damage. They are definitely lower quality- a few cute little almost-baroque shapes back there.

    Found in a big bag o’ junk…

Thank you! I’ve managed to get matinee length necklace out of the two with saphire clasps The bright blue single sapphire is synthetic, but the ones or the pearl clasp are mined, and it's a really lovely clasp so I used that one. The non graduated strand is just long enough for a choker

    Not sure what i have...

Nothing helpful to add, but as a fan of graduated vintage strands, they’re lovely!

    Found in a big bag o’ junk…

I’ve been at it again- eBay and charity shops… Four real pearl strands (and a lot of plastic beads). I’d be really grateful if the experts could take quick look please, tell me what you think. My own impression, for what it’s worth is that the strands with clasps on them were beautiful and...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

They are absolutely beautiful and my teenage fashionista has similar styles in her costume jewellery box, so they’re probably high fashion right now. Makes sense- she’s wearing stuff I’m sure I wore in the 90s. They look luscious on you

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

So I had some help identifying the pearls (Akoya) and some tips on stringing, and here’s my junk store and eBay five strand vintage necklace, finally done. The strands all have a jump ring at each end and a hinged diamond circle clasp so I can wear any number of strands. I used some leftovers to...

    Upcycled pendant

I usually wear my grandfather’s wedding ring as a pendant- it’s going to end up in a box if it stays with me. I would love to think someone was enjoying it

    Upcycled pendant

Thank you! Realistically, as pretty as it is I know I probably won’t wear it, so it’s destined for eBay. But it can fund my next project, with a bit of luck

    Upcycled pendant

So, a few weeks ago I got a bag of mixed cultured pearls - broken strands and various odds and ends. It included an earring. I’ve taken the post off, polished it and cleaned the pearls, and put it in a chain. I’m really pleased with how it turned out and I think the pearls are lovely

    My weekend project

Thank you, that’s so kind. I did put more than money into it, that’s true. Never really thought of that!

    My Rehoming and Rescue Project

Thank you! I’m having so much fun stringing and knotting and learning about pearls I almost forgot about my first love- excessive bling 🤣

    My Rehoming and Rescue Project

My clasp arrived. I’m delighted with it, especially for what I paid - it’s really nice and exceeded expectations. I added a diamond and ruby charm, just in case I have to go to the Met gala this year (which failing, so I can look fancy at the grocery store). Only down side is that the clasp is a...

    My weekend project

Thank you- we were definitely going for the deco vibe! She does love them and she totally deserves them too! They’re not the best ever, but they are the best out there for my budget- I must have looked at a million strands to make every penny count 🤣 Strung them half a dozen times before I got...

    My weekend project

I bought a loose strand of Edison pearls for a friend’s ’congratulations’ gift, to celebrate a big step up in her career. She’s a fellow pearl lover. Then we scoured the internet for a clasp she’d love. Finally got them strung with the cutest enamelled clasp over the weekend. She loves them and...

    My Rehoming and Rescue Project

I’m getting seriously addicted to this! I put together a bracelet from some of my broken eBay strands. I’m waiting for a sterling silver version of the clasp to arrive, but really enjoying wearing this!

Not sure how to restring with vintage clasp

I don’t have anything helpful to say, being new to this beading addiction, but the clasp is really beautiful!
