I'm not in the market yet, but I've started to be drawn to goldens. Other than the difference in value, do golden SS and golden akoyas have any other different characteristics? For example, should I expect one to have more luster than the other as well as more variation in overtones?

In a few places throughout this forum, I've run into references about pearls needing to acclimate. I notice that when I receive a new strand, especially at this time of year, it arrives freezing. These cold pearls seem to look a lot less lusterous as opposed to the same strand when it has warmed...

I've taken a look through several of the threads about grading on the forum. However, I don't think my question has been addressed...though my search mojo may have missed it. How much does quality vary within a strand? If one of the reputable sellers that is part of this forum, lists a grade is...
