I would think that different manufacturers would not work together.

They look like bayonet clasps but with two female ends on the clasp, and two male ends on the strands of pearls. So the clasps should be interchangeable with the strands.

I do not think it is double sided. I think it's two pieces of shell glued back to back, given the large bezel around the outside. That way you don't have a right side to the pendant and if it flips over, both sides look good
