Hello! I agree this isn’t representative of CMW’s usual good quality, which is why I learned from this to ask about the ugliest pearl(s). It was sold as AAA-AA top lustre.

Tanzanite and Tahitians are a combination I didn’t know I needed, these look fantastic!! 😍 I came here to post about a pearl and gemstone combination that I recently had made: 17mm pink FW, lab pink sapphire and set in 925 sterling silver. It’s a fun ring!

Good advice, always ask for more photos and videos! I actually found the low quality “top lustre” pearl from CMW that somehow snuck into my bracelet strand…

If you could only have five pieces, what would they be and why?

Hahaha I am quite an obsessive person too! And you put it better than I did, pearls add volume indeed, as well as providing visual interest compared to diamonds and gems that usually sparkle. The good thing about VCA is that it holds it value well and sells quickly on the secondary market if...

Gasp!!!!!!! What extraordinary design!!! I hope you don’t mind, I will unashamedly be stealing this pearl x tumbled gemstone idea. Love love love love love! It reminds me of imperial court necklaces (chaozhu) in ancient China that come in variety of materials including pearls.

Just wanted to chime in on 7-9mm Tahitians - they’re small for T’s but I really like the ~9mm size on me! So it really depends your preference and what you think looks good on you. I’m 5ft4 and US size 4ish (I think - never bought clothes in the US before haha), and this is a great everyday size...

What a lovely collection and look forward to seeing what you add! I think the Mikis are a great foundation (no pearl collection would be without white akoya!) and you can add more interesting pieces from there onwards :) There’s lots of good advice on these boards as to where to buy pearls...

If you could only have five pieces, what would they be and why?

Hello! Thanks, this was a great thread to learn from the maestros hehehe! Where are you on your pearl journey? Interestingly, I’ve been consolidating my collection recently by giving away pieces to my mum and MIL, as I wasn’t reaching for some of them and I don’t like jewellery just sitting in...

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

I’ve been consolidating my pearl collection recently (by gifting pieces to my mum and MIL mostly), as I found that I was reaching for the same pieces over and over again. So, please forgive me if my pearls are getting repetitive! 7mm drop natural white akoya peeking out under my turtleneck...

@Pearl Dreams what a great find! Unearthing hidden treasure is always so satisfying! Please can I ask some basic pearl/nacre questions: when you posted this photo, does this section show how thick the nacre is? Also, it looks hollow at the core but I thought we should be able to see the bead...

Oh my, I haven’t felt the itch to buy new pearls in a long time but you may have just unlocked a new wishlist item…! These are beautiful, and I bet they’re even better in the flesh!! Out of interest, have you ever strung highly saturated akoya together with light coloured Tahitians? I’m...

I love how your rare coloured akoya necklace is also “bubbly” with multiple sizes! Adds a lot of visual interest, and I can’t believe how saturated some of them are! Are they almost like light bodied Tahitians? But with even stronger luster?

When I took off my Tahitians before going to bed, I couldn’t help but notice how beautiful they were in the low light. So I put them back on and snapped a photo…

I like to wear pearls with rock’n’roll outfits, the contrast between ladylike elegance and edginess is fun! Semi-round 7-9ish T’s from Kobe and 9mm baroque blue akoya from Flower Jem when I visited Japan last year

In case you haven’t seen them before, I use these spiral ring adjusters for rings that are too big, they’re pretty comfortable and easy to use! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ring-Adjuster-Snuggies-Silver-Polishing/dp/B075DWX8Q4

Stacked my 7-8mm akoya drops with a jadeite Buddha for a matinee show today. Paired them with silver Tahitian keshi earrings and blue baroque akoya bracelet. Tagging @pattye as she inspired me to wear the bracelet! Glamour shot of the blue baroque akoya:

    Japan trip - Pearls edition

Thanks @pattye ! Ahh you’ve reminded me that I should wear the baroque blues again… I tend to reach for necklaces almost all the time now, probably because I don’t like to wear pearls as a bracelet (partly because I’m clumsy but partly because we have two young kids at home). But I definitely...
