My Sea of Cortez pearls! I purchased the pearls (individually) from Carolyn Ehret (Druzydesign & Druzydesign1) and I hand fabricated the 22kg beads. She indicated that the pearls were from an early harvest, 20+ years ago.

Freshadama are tissue nucleated (all nacre). Edisons are bead nucleated.

My golden South Sea keshi necklace. It took more than 10 years to collect enough pearls to match and make this necklace....... (And I drilled each pearl myself!) As far as pricing...........South Sea keshis are currently quite expensive!

Are you sure you are referring to Edison pearls? Although the Chinese pearl farmers were bead nucleating the mollusks during that time frame, it is my understanding that they were not able to produce round pearls. The initial results of their bead nucleating efforts produced baroque pearls...

Any idea when these producers started using pearls as nuclei?

Although The Strand is known as a used book seller, they do sell new books, too. My copy of Bari's book was definitely never used. (Pretty good price, too!) Let me know what you think when you get it. Gail
