    uodora?

That strand you posted is way above my budget! I have never bought pearls that cost anywhere near that. And probably never will. That is all I'll say about what I paid for things. ;) Fortunately for my wallet I love baroque and near-round pearls. They tend to have more color and are just...

    uodora?

In the case of that second necklace, I bought it pre-owned and I thought the colors would really suit me, but they didn't. I swapped out just 3 of the pearls, but that changed the whole look of the strand, and now it's one of my favorite pieces. This is what I mean when I say you can't really...

In that case only buy from sellers that allow returns. You can't really be sure what will look good on your skin from looking at photos. You can't even know what color the pearls are from photos, if they are the kinds of pearls for which there are overtones. And Tahitians are definitely pearls...

    uodora?

I used the search feature and found one person who bought Tahitians from Uodora; see their post here: https://www.pearl-guide.com/threads/stringing-tutorial-with-photos-stringing-on-serafil-beaders-secret-power-pro.6604/page-19#post-474053 I have bought various Tahitian necklaces for myself...

Blue baroque Akoyas. Need an opinion !

Strong lighting casts strong shadows. I saw the listing.

Blue baroque Akoyas. Need an opinion !

It looks to me like the photo was edited to reduce shadows. The colors are too bright, not realistic.

Fake, Imitation, Laguna, Faux, Majorica, Majorcan, Swarovski Pearl Photos, Stories

Depending on how much one knows what real pearl necklaces look like, some Majorica pearls appear more real than others. The white ones and the mixed color round strands are their best imitations IMO. Their straight color dark-body color Tahitian, gray-body color Tahitians and golden strands...

Love Them Even If Nothing Special…….

There is a book on the history of clasps! It is written by Pearl-Guide member @CLICLASP, Anna Tabakhova. I own a copy. Clasps: 4,000 Years of Fasteners in Jewellery I see there is still a soft cover copy available. Hard cover seems to be out of stock. About this book...

    Yes! A shell. It's Mikimoto.

Does it have an M in a shell ? I could not see it well enough.

    Help on these tiny pearls!

What you need is a loupe! Compare the surface appearance with that of pearls you know are real. Smooth under 10x magnification - real. Coarse looking = fake

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Yes, that worked when I clicked on it. I am not on Instagram but I could see it. :) It's cold and windy, but sunny here today and perfect for these Tahitians (stepped outside very briefly, brrr!)

Could you please help me identify my pearls?

They are dyed freshwater pearls from China. The dye is permanent.

    Golden SSP?

No health risks at all! And the dye is permanent. If you like you can even change the clasp, although those "bean" type clasps are quite easy to use and it looks fine for now. Eventually the gold overlay may tarnish-- I find vermeil does that-- and polishing tarnish from plated metal may reduce...

    Golden SSP?

I'm not sure they are south sea pearls at all. In fact I don't think they are. Here is why: 1. To me the surface looks more like that of bead nucleated freshwater pearls. 2. The color is too uniform and looks dyed (which they would have to be if freshwaters.) Real GSS necklaces would have a...

    Is this mikimoto?

It lacks the "M in a shell" Mikimoto mark. I would assume it is not Mikimoto unless you have documentation to say otherwise.

    Growth lines or cracked pearls

I'm not seeing whatever you are seeing, but yes, I have dropped my pearls and they are fine. They have never cracked from a fall. Your FWP are solid nacre and very sturdy. A wooden floor is also more forgiving than, say, concrete, as far as risk of scratching. I think the pearls are ok. :)

I didn't realize these would layer so well until today. Baroque mixed colors SSP with baroque Rikitea Tahitians-- outside on overcast day.
