    Pearls from Granny Stash

Yes, good job, Izzie! What a good size to create memorial jewelry, Leslie! The pearls appear off round, indicating they are tissue nucleated, not bead nucleated.

    Does anyone know makers mark?

If this mark is on an earring finding or clasp, it probably represents the company that made it, not the designer of the piece.

Are they Ugly Tahitians or not? 🧐

You may be able to sort out enough of the "better" pearls to make an every day bracelet as some seem to have less flaws.

    Tahitian?

Hi Linda! Glad you pop in every so often! The coloring and light blemishes look like Tahitian to me. Sometimes there are grommets glued on each drill hole which keep the chain from wearing against the pearl, but not always. I've never seen the chain glued before! I suppose someone could have...

    Dyed or natural Akoyas?

Probably dye, I don't think irradiation (harmless) results in this dark shade.

    Some midcentury earrings

Yes, I'd agree Akoya from the roundness and size. Love the twig design. Nice find! Glad your eye surgery went well, too!

Faux pearls on gold post...how to remove?

I've had success by boiling the earrings in the microwave in a half cup of water. Boil for several minutes, let cool a bit and gently twist. If not loose, boil again. It can take multiple tries to loosen the pearl from the earring back. Don't force it as you don't want to break the post off.

What type of pearls are these 14k gold stud earrings?

Based on the roundness, size and luster, most likely Akoya pearls.

    Fuzzy knots

Beck, I knot the way Pearl Dreams does. Her detailed tutorial with photos on this forum is here I use a needle with doubled thread, make an overhand knot close to the pearl and pull the threads apart to seat the knot. I don't use any tool. There are many styles of knotting and they are all...
