    Tahitian or freshwater pearls

There are soooo many freshwaters misrepresented as the more expensive saltwater pearls-- akoyas, Tahitians and south sea pearls. EBay is rife with such listings. But now that you know about this forum, you can get our opinions before buying! ;) And the safest practice IMO is to buy pearls from...

What size pearls for a pearl bracelet?

If you find the bracelet and tell me the length, I can do the math for you, if you like. :)

    Tahitian or freshwater pearls

Those are definitely dyed Chinese freshwater pearls. The eggy shape is a dead giveaway.

What size pearls for a pearl bracelet?

Yes, the more I think of it, the more sense it makes to go by the length of her other bracelets rather than the watch. Since she would probably wear the pearl bracelet on the same wrist she wears her other bracelets on. But you'd still have to add a bit of length if they are quite flat.

What size pearls for a pearl bracelet?

How thick is her watch band? Can you measure it? I'm asking because just as the pearl radius affects length of finished bracelet, so does the thickness of the watch band determine how long her band needs to be to fit the way she wants it. The radius of the average 6.75mm pearl would be about...

What size pearls for a pearl bracelet?

For example: Let's say, just for purposes of this example, that her perfect length of the bracelet, taking into consideration how loose she wants it to be, is 7" Let's convert that to centimeters. 7" x 2.54 cm/inch = 17.78 cm. That is "Circumference B" on my diagram. Using c (circumference B)...

What size pearls for a pearl bracelet?

The pearl bracelet will have to be longer to accomodate the size of the pearls. How much longer depends on the diameter of the pearls and also how tight or loose she likes it. The larger the pearls, the longer the bracelet has to be to leave room for the pearls. The thread through the drill...

Faux? Authentic? What is this Hallmark ont he clasp? Thanks!

They look imitation (faux) to me; they are too much alike. The M on the clasp is not Mikimoto's mark, if that is what you were thinking. M could indicate the brand of the strand (Monet maybe? Majorica usually have the entire name) or could be the maker of just the clasp.

What size pearls for a pearl bracelet?

I will leave it to others to recommend size, as I don't wear pearl bracelets. I will just say that if her wrist is small, then the smaller pearls may be preferable as they will fit her wrist better. There isn't room for many pearls in a bracelet, and there is also the clasp that takes up space...

    South sea, tahitian or freshwater

I reread your first post-- if you paid anywhere near that amount, that is too much to pay for freshwaters. The thing is, round Tahitians with vibrant colors would have cost more than £800 many years ago. So her story isn't tracking in my opinion. And the clasp doesn't look bespoke-- there are...

    Stringing large pearls with wire?

The knots/bumpers add a bit of flexibility, though this is less important with a short strand.

Pearl tastes CHANGING and EVOLVING? or am I just getting wierder?

My taste in many things have changed over the decades-- pearls included. :)

    Stringing large pearls with wire?

I have an 11mm-14mm mixed strand that I strung on wire with silicone bumpers. The holes were irregular in size and I needed to use bumpers instead of knots. I don't find that these tiny bumpers add much length. About the same as a small knot. I used screw type crimps beads. See...

    South sea, tahitian or freshwater

The Chinese freshwaters have gotten better and better. I can see why anyone would think those are Tahitians. If you didn't pay Tahitian prices for them, they are still attractive and could be fun to wear, but they need restringing. And we have information on how to do your own restringing on...

Need help with pearls and maker please.

It's safe to assume the pearls are akoyas but I don't recognize the mark.

    Thrifted these pearls

They still look like imitations. My guess is that the clasp was changed at some point (gold used to be less valuable.) You may wish to have a look at this thread: https://www.pearl-guide.com/threads/fake-imitation-laguna-faux-majorica-majorcan-swarovski-pearl-photos-stories.6776/

    Thrifted these pearls

To me they look like imitation pearls, 14K clasp notwithstanding. But they are very grimy. That makes them harder to evaluate. Try cleaning them--soak 15 minutes on mild soapy water, wipe away grime with a soft cloth, rinse and let them dry on a soft towel for 24 hours to allow the thread to...

Pearls I need to learn about

These are cultured Chinese freshwater pearls. They don't have a high value, sorry. The peach colored one are a natural color. The black pearls on your other thread are also Chinese freshwater pearls-- those are dyed. Freshwaters do not come in that color naturally.

These are something I don’t know much about! I found these on a attic cleaning! I’m hoping I can get some help with the value and history education

The pearls in photos 1 and 2 are dyed Chinese freshwater pearls. Their value is low. I can't make the 3rd photo out well enough to comment on those. Sorry, this is a pearl forum-- I don't know anything about jade! You could try posting the jade photos on the Colored Gemstones forum on...
