    Guidance needed for mikimoto strand

Agreed. It shouldn't be knotted past the first few pearls. It will look much better this way, be a bit shorter, and wear the way it was originally intended.

Ball bearing look question and white/silver or silver

All three appear to be akoya strands. In the first photo, the luster is better on the right strand. You can see this by the crispness of the reflection when you zoom in - snippet attached. The third photo shows another strand of akoya that look to be a bit older (your moms?). The pearls have...

Buying Tahitians - better in Jakarta or online?

There are no Tahitian pearl farms in Indonesia - only South Sea. If you're looking for white or golden South Sea you can buy locally produced pearls, but if Tahitian, they are imported to Indonesia from Tahiti.

Are these mikimoto pearls real? If yes, what year is this made?

Earrings and pendants are stand-alone pieces, so pearls are specially selected for them. They tend to be perfectly clean or very close to it.

Are these mikimoto pearls real? If yes, what year is this made?

It looks like a real Mikimoto clasp. Yes, you may find blemishes on some of the pearls. That does not mean they are fakes. Mikimoto carries a range of different qualities. There is no way to tell what year the strand is from as far as I know.

Hi there experts!:) pendant addition to Akoya pearl necklace, help please

Why not squeeze the butterfly bale together so it becomes a single loop? It looks like there's a knot in the middle of the bail now that is also getting dirty. You could also set a 14k bead next to the pendant on either side to cover the knots.

    Another Fake giant clam pearl

I've seen large clam shells at furniture stores, but they are much more prevalent in Asia. There's an area in China where they farm tridacna for the shell, so there are a lot of different things made from it there. I've never been in the market for one though so I haven't spent much time with them.
