Buyer and Seller Responsibilities Regarding Shipping

Now if tracking does NOT show delivery, then it's a different story. Then you can file a claim on the seller. Through eBay, if it's eBay.

Buyer and Seller Responsibilities Regarding Shipping

If the tracking shows it to be delivered, the seller has no more responsibility for the item. That is just the way the system works here in the USA; I don't know about other countries. It is not the fault of the seller if someone steals the package from someone's front step or if the carrier...

How much color difference is acceptable?

I'm glad we could help. If it's any comfort, even experienced pearl shoppers sometimes have to return pearls that didn't look the way they thought they would. Even when buying from reputable vendors. It's nobody's fault-- pearls are hard to photograph accurately when the colors are complex...

    Differentiate saltwater from freshwater pearls

I love that story! It's Maurice Shire's account in Antoinette Matlin's The Pearl Book: The Definitive Buying Guide. So many other great stories in that book. The one by Nicholas Paspaley about what happened to his father is especially amazing.

    Are these south sea pearls?

There are various threads on here about men and pearls! https://www.pearl-guide.com/search/522554/?q=men&c%5Btitle_only%5D=1&o=relevance I do think more men are wearing pearls nowadays and it seems to be more accepted, but apart from my husband, I have only ever seen one man in pearls: a...

    Are these FW/akoya/Ss?

I'm still getting a freshwater vibe from them. The size would also be on the high side for akoyas. Akoyas that size would be quite costly.

    Are these FW/akoya/Ss?

To me the first strand looks like FWP based on eggy shapes especially visible in the 3rd photo. The second strand, I think akoyas that have perhaps yellowed.

    Are these real pearls?

I also vote for fake. The surface looks like some imitation pearls I bought at T J Maxx some years ago. The brand was Lucoral and they were labeled freshwater pearls, but when I got them home and did a few simple tests on them, and examined them with a loupe, I realized they were fake and...

    Are these south sea pearls?

There are photos of two different necklaces. The OP's question is about the knotted strand in the 1st and 3rd posts, not the one in post #21. :)

    Are these south sea pearls?

If you have a creative bent you can actually have a lot of fun stringing your own stuff. Not just pearls. Semi-precious stone beads and other materials are great too. And not just on thread. I like Beadalon beading wire with screw type crimps, and either silicone bumpers instead of knots, or...

    Are these south sea pearls?

I once bought a mediocre pre-owned necklace and even more mediocre SS bracelet and added some loose pearls I had from other vendors to make a nice multicolored one for my husband. This necklace has the dark center pearl that I removed from the necklace in my previous post. Here he is wearing it.

    Are these south sea pearls?

It is tricky, yes. My favorite Tahitian necklace is one I bought second hand. I thought the color pattern would suit me, but it didn't go so well with the clothes I tend to wear. And the center pearl had a weird bump that somehow always rolled around to the front where it kept catching my eye. I...

    Are these south sea pearls?

Yes! I often rearrange pearl necklaces from the way they were originally strung, even replacing pearls that I don't like as much. Sometimes a pearl that is closer to the front is less attractive so I move it back. This is the pearl that struck me immediately, which I would move back a bit so...

Oval interlocking clasps: lower end (silver and vermeil): https://www.bellafindings.com/jewelscart2000/store/jewelscart2000_searchItem.asp edit: oops, you still have to enter the search term: "oval interlock clasp" higher end (gold)...

    Are these south sea pearls?

Nice! For your heavier necklaces, you might have a look into interlocking oval clasps and locking carabiner clasps. They come at lower end and higher end price points and larger and smaller sizes. I'll hunt up a few links for examples.

    Are these south sea pearls?

I wrote a tutorial for how to restring pearls! I do all my necklaces myself; many of us do. Here it is: https://www.pearl-guide.com/threads/stringing-tutorial-with-photos-stringing-on-serafil-beaders-secret-power-pro.6604/ My issue with clasps is that my necklaces (even chains) tend to work...

I like your approach. :) A thought occurred to me: if you look at his other listings you may be able to tell if he generally photographs in a location in his home with warm lighting. If so, then they are probably a lighter gold color (which you don't mind, but it's good to know.) I have to...

    Are these south sea pearls?

IMO a dispute based on color would probably not be successful because generally it's understood that colors can vary based on one's monitor and it does not seem like deliberate fraud. Also because the tag says SSP I don't think you could very well dispute the type of pearl. I think the...

    Are these south sea pearls?

With SSP I avoid GSS that are too greenish! But those look more or less neutral, although they may not be as golden as they appear. The lining of the box seems unnaturally warm colored and may have been affected by the lighting where the photo was taken. Adjusting one photo to be less warm...

    Are these south sea pearls?

The writing on their box seems to be Gem Shopping Network. So based on that they probably are SSP of a quality range that one would expect from such a venue.
