Overall everyone will have less discretionary money to spend on luxuries. For that matter, less to spend on necessities. It is bound to affect purchases of all kinds, not just pearls.

A lot of those are freshwater pearls. It's the akoyas that are scarcer now due to oyster mortality. And those are definitely higher in price now for that reason.

So the 2nd white strand is about 7mm and is akoya, as is the first strand. Thanks for the extra photos; they helped.
