    Are these natural saltwater pearls?

With the certification from a well-known laboratory, assuming the cert is not a counterfeit (unlikely given the moderate value here), it seems odd that your jeweler recommended an independent X-Ray analysis. The bigger question is whether you are/were attracted to the pearls.

    Zhuji or Hongqiao Pearl Market

Deep, have you thoroughly studied your target market? Are you in an area with very little pearl awareness or competition? If so you may be able to share your learning curve and pure enthusiasm with your customers, while staying one step ahead. This would be a case of ‘in the land of the blind...

Hello, I found this piece inside an oyster. Is it possible to know the type and value?

The blister is a cluster of smaller pearls in a very attractive and symmetrical pattern. It would justify a more involved setting such as this Pinctada Maculata shell with comparatively ugly blister. (My wife wears the polished back side forward.)

Golf club finally finished after 13 years

Beautiful work that speaks for itself! A better sense of scale would be great (MM for top of tee for example). Also, do you know the source and mollusk species? It appears to be two coin sacs in the process of joining.

Show Us Your Pearls In Action!!!

Jeg, your posts are more than the pearls themselves (which are beautiful), they communicate your passion and show everyone that they have no business hiding in jewelry boxes, and that the smallest collection can be made larger through combinations. As a guy I can relate by remembering salesmen...

    Pearl Symmetry and Rotation Mechanics

This thread was brought to the attention of the University of Granada faculty and the associated international biomineralization research team. Cultured (Beaded) Abalone Pearls from Chile

Douglas, belatedly seeing this. Were these the folks at PBTB in May? Unfortunately we didn't make it by their table. Question 1: Given the 35% rejection rate, are they getting any keshi? Question 2: Is there any thought of removing the protein deposits, following the precedent of polishing...

    Giant Edison Pearls are Here

Taking nothing away from the technological achievement, this is size for its own sake, like American cars in the mid-20th century before the oil crisis. Will fins be next?

    Giant Edison Pearls are Here

Now that's really shot down the market for dye cast or 3D bead prints from shell powder (from another thread). Next the beads will be hollow. Ping-pong pearlomacy, anyone?

    Pearl Symmetry and Rotation Mechanics

Round, Drop, Button, Circle. Symmetry in pearls is the foundation of their appreciation and historical value. So much so that the cultured pearl industry went to great extremes to give them a head start and helping hand with round bead nuclei. But even with the head start the mollusk must...
