Online Pearl Class from the Victoria and Albert Museum

I just signed up for the course. There are 9 classes, each about 20 minutes long. The USD price ended up being about $57. UPDATE: I just watched all the episodes. There's about 3 hours and 30 minutes of video total. It's mostly about jewelry through the ages, with only a little bit...

Online Pearl Class from the Victoria and Albert Museum

The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has a recorded online pearl class that I'm thinking of taking. It's 45 GBP, and you have a year to watch it. They have a bunch of other interesting classes on textiles and art, as well. https://www.vam.ac.uk/event/YzwkrJrkBm/l24001-pearls-on-demand

The little bird is so cute. They went to fast for me to snag one. Yesterday I wore my multicolored Edison necklace from PP with dyed "coffee bean shaped" drops from Kojima on my own diamond hoops. Today I'm wearing South Sea keshi tin-cup from one of the PP Live events with Mikimoto huggies.

Pearl Fashion Article - June is the Queen of Gems month

I'm sorry. I don't think it will send your kids to college, but it might buy them lunch. There's no clasp and no knots. It looks like a strand of imitation pearls to me.

    Are these dyed?

I didn't mean THAT thin. I can tell they have thick nacre, just that the paler blue pearls might have thicker nacre maybe? I don't know.

    Are these dyed?

Some of my blue akoyas are really, really blue. Much bluer than the ones I'm seeing nowadays. I wonder if mine have thinner nacre since it's the dark brown showing through the nacre that makes them look blue, and that the newer ones have thicker nacre therefore are paler blue.

Happy New Year 2025! I'm still feeling in the mood for white pearls. Mikimoto huggies. Betty Davis' Teeth freshwater keshi from Kojima. Coin pearls from Karen Brown Jewelry. I "stole" the clasp from another strand of my mother's pearls. The clasp just seemed perfect with the coin...

    Are these dyed?

These strike me as blue baroque akoya pearls and not dyed.

Looking for help with identifying please

The round strand looks like cultured akoya pearls. The white pearls are different colors. The blue pearls could be a natural color, but they could also be dyed. The oval strands are Chinese cultured freshwater "Rice Krispie" pearls from the 1990s - 2000's. They are 100% pearl nacre. The...

Missed a few days because I was at my niece's wedding. Since I was using my Mom's vintage Chanel handbag, I decided to do old school Chanel and wear a little black dress and layer on the white pearls. Mom's SS earrings. Mom's mabe' pendant on Aunt Love's Blue Lagoon 18" strand. My 1982...

What is this type of pearl necklace called?

What an unusual drilling technique on the button pearls. I don't think it has a name. But it's a great way to make sure the button pearls all lay the same way.

South Seas Yellow or dyed freshwater?

Egg and potato shapes. Plus small ones. I think freshwater, too. But it's a pretty strand.

    What in the SHELL hell?

Acetone won't hurt real pearls. It's what you use to get the glue off pearls that have fallen out of their setting.

    What in the SHELL hell?

Vinegar dissolves pearl nacre, but it takes a while. I've never heard of bubbling before.
