Trying to wear pearls more often!

I took a few photos when it was sunny. It’s cloudy here today, but seeing the pics is perking me up! These are my small ringed Tahitians. They’re still on elastic because I haven’t strung or wire wrapped them. When I bought them I thought of them as purple, but now they strike me as kind of...

    Pearl overtones-- noticeable when worn?

They’re beautiful Akoyas. I have an Akoya bracelet from PP that has similar pink overtones, and I love it. They look very nice on you, and I hope you’ll enjoy wearing them!

Trying to wear pearls more often!

Thank you! I realized I was always worried about wearing them places for fear of damaging or losing them. Now I have no excuse not to wear them unless I’m cooking or cleaning. Daylight permitting, I’ll try to take pics a few times a week!

Trying to wear pearls more often!

Thank you all for your kind responses! I’m hoping to post more pearls this month. When the light is good I’ll put some on and take pics. Today I put on my 6.5-7.0mm akoya bracelet from PP that I got earlier this year, partly because I don’t wear it enough, and partly so I could look at it while...

Questions about vintage brooch on offer

I forgot to mention that it’s a petite brooch, about 1” wide and 1 1/8” tall. The photos I posted didn’t really give a clue to its small size. Thank you again!

Questions about vintage brooch on offer

I should have thanked Douglas earlier! And thank you, Pattye! It’s hard to see how exactly the pearls are mounted; I couldn’t tell, either. I’ve purchased vintage jewelry from the seller before and they are very friendly. I’m sure they’d send me another pic, and consider a reasonable offer. I’ll...

Questions about vintage brooch on offer

Bumping this thread to see if anyone else has ideas :) I did not buy them but I’m thinking about it. And I do want to know if they may be natural pearls. I’m trying to train my eye to see them! So many of you have seen lots of pearls and can tell so much from looking. I appreciate your time...

Trying to wear pearls more often!

Thanks for your kind responses! As a friend of mine with great style says, “Don’t wait for an occasion; you ARE the occasion!” I think she’s right. Yesterday I put on a 35” strand of white 7.5mm freshwaters with a t-shirt, but there wasn’t any sun for a photo. I’ll just have to wear them...

Trying to wear pearls more often!

I’m trying to wear my pearls more often, even though I’m mostly at home. If I start a thread for them, maybe that will encourage me! This week I wore my Tahitian bracelet that I wire-wrapped. I forgot how much I love it. I used Argentium silver wire (935 and alloyed with Germanium) and pearls...

Questions about vintage brooch on offer

I spotted this brooch for sale, and I’m wondering VERY much what type of pearls they are. The setting is clearly antique, and it’s marked 14K. Seller lists it as “Victorian.” The pearls are very baroque-looking. If they’re the original pearls in the setting, then is it possible that they’re...

    I want Kamala Harris' pearls

I, too, am looking forward to 4 years of Vice-Presidential pearls! I do enjoy her style very much. I have some tiny brilliant turquoise Swarovski bicones and some star cut aquamarine beads that would look lovely combined with pearls (and not break the bank). Time to have some fun with my bead...

An idea for creating multi-use or convertible strands

P.S. Like you, I also love pearl enhancers and tassels, and I now have some tassel findings that I’m hoping to make pretty tassels with. I’ve been doing other crafts for a while, but I’m ready to get back to beading! :) I would love to see some the pieces you have made, Bernadette.

An idea for creating multi-use or convertible strands

Thank you for your reply and your comments! I didn’t think it was a brand new idea, but I do love the seeming ease with which the pieces are interchangeable. As far as the Victorians (and Edwardians) go, one of my favorite things is to see a Royal tiara changed into a necklace and then restored...

An idea for creating multi-use or convertible strands

I would love to know what you, my fellow beaders, think of this. I saw an ad on social media for a necklace (or set of necklace components) that can be worn in multiple ways. The set consists of (as far as I can see) a 20” double or triple, strand, two 4” strands, and a 20” single strand. They...

Antique Cartier seed pearl encrusted compact/necessaire, oh la la

I collect vintage compacts and I also love looking at amazing jeweled ones from the past. This image turned up today on a collectors page that I follow. I don’t see many pearl-encrusted compacts, likely due to the fact that frequent handling would certainly damage pearls. Then today I saw...

    My pearls

What a lovely display of your pearls! The colors and combinations make me very happy. I need to get some of those clasps;I have them favorited on Etsy. Time to go for it. They look great with everything, but I especially ove them with the circled Tahitians, which I had not thought of. Wear them...

Advice on thread colour with pondslime pearls

The bronze thread is also beautiful. The necklace has turned out wonderfully. Enjoy it in good health! Being able to rework a piece and wear it again is satisfying. When I think I am being too fussy, I always remind myself of how many jewels Queen Mary had broken up or repurposed, or modified...

Advice on thread colour with pondslime pearls

Love the dark thread with the beautiful ripples. Also I am blown away by Anne Choi’s beads. I really need me some armed rabbits, STAT. Thank you for turning us on to those, Pattye!
