y'all are BETTER THAN APPRAISERS! - i was told when asking online about pearls

Analilia, I've been following this thread with interest, but I have to say your photographs are absolutely knocking me out!! They're incredible. The detail, the focus, the up-close shots are simply dazzling, and a wonderful contribution to this forum. I have truly enjoyed your posts (and gotten...

    What are these?

The Golden baroques are absolutely lovely, btw! :)

    What are these?

They didn't look like keshi to me, either - I always thought that keshi have a silky, textured surface and are almost always free-form in shape, like these Tahitians (below). I know that FW is completely different from Tahitians, and would have slightly different characteristics, but I think the...

On the search for natural color blue Akoya strands from Vietnam

Stunning! Those blue hues are some of my favorites! I love how you can see the rose, violet and aquamarine overtones just POP on the blue Akoya. Great find!

    Crazy 4.5 mm Nacre

Wow that is a really great couple of shots - I can't believe the nacre is so thick! How long would you estimate it took to cultivate nacre layers that thick? Four years?

    advice needed please

They look quite lovely, and 24-inches is not the most common length, although it is one of my favorites (I like to play with my pearls when I wear them and you can't do that with a 16-inch choker lol). I'd wear and enjoy - the color looks great for a 30-year old strand! :)

    Amazing Luster - Cortez Pearl

Hahaha I finally made good on my threat and raided Douglas' selections lol! Easily one of the best decisions I've ever made - I can't wait until our next batch comes in (soon soon soon soon!!!!). The Sea of Cortez pearls are like nothing I've ever seen.

    Mabe Pearl holders

Have you tried those transparent jewel cases? I'm not a huge fan because I don't like the top of the case bumping and/or possibly scratching the tops of the mab?s, but it will keep them from moving around and they are easy to look at and see your pearls (they look great all set up in a booth...

    Tahitian white pearls?

Very cool! I love the stark black and white combination, it's so modern and chic! Red, your "poor-girl's" La Pelegrina I think looks better than the real thing ... that is quite a necklace you have there! Just beautiful!

    Little H - Sliced pearls

Just gorgeous, Cathy, keep posting pictures! I'd have to agree with the exotic fruits comparison ... the sliced pearls are like pomegranates I think. There's another fruit this design reminds me of, but the name keeps escaping me. I saw these originally featured in JCK and loved them on sight...

    Pearl Ruckus 2014

Gorgeous shot of the sunset, I wish I had been able to attend. I can't wait to see all the amazing pictures and the video of the two presentations I wanted to see most: Douglas on the Sea of Cortez oyster beds and Josh's talk on Tahitian pearl farming.

    Pearl Ruckus 2014

Oh wonderful, I have a beautiful hat that I adore wearing!! It's going to look great!! Especially with Douglas's mab? necklace- that is a serious piece of jewelry that I NEED to wear for just 5 minutes even. Wow.

    multicolor tahitians

I do kind of feel bad for the jeweler who is holding it- that steep of a discount indicates that he's been hanging on to it for awhile- do you know if they sell a lot of pearls?

    multicolor tahitians

Hi Bailey, welcome to the Forum! :) I personally love that necklace- it's gorgeous and I would put it on my site in a heartbeat. Beautiful colors (and I am a sucker for great color) done in an artistic layout with a center section that packs a lot of punch. :)

Absolutely gorgeous- the colors are so saturated and perfect, with just a hint of iridescence picked up by the camera. Lovely find!
