Off-hand - and please, anyone correct me! - I am thinking blue Akoya. I have a friend who showed me a few blue Akoya pearls she had from way before anyone paid any attention to them and hers had blemishes too. I am also pretty that gold was much cheaper back then. I even have a ring that looks...
I am not a friend of the leather bracelets, sadly. I find it difficult to put them off and take them off and I have to take it off when I play guitar so no leaving it on for days.

Agree on the strand. It's fake. The color is super strange and you can see the layer peeling off.
Did you check what the broche is made of? Is it real gold or not? Even if the two pearls are Akoya (saltwater pearls) the value of the gold would be much higher than the pearls. If the broche is...
Well... I just did a wire wrap necklace with my lustrous 9 mm Akoya on gold coloured base metal that will tarnish pretty fast. About the same principle :)
Going against the tide here and thinking bluish lavender. Depending on what effect you are after. It seems to me the contrast here would be greater and call more attention to the pearls. If the goal is to have them blend in, then the pondslime.
I am skilled at working around my rings :-) Though the gem ones get a mild scrub with a soft toothbrush and detergent when I change them. I am sure that with our calcium heavy water it would much better to take off the rings before washing hands but let's be realistic...
The bill would go to the friend. You could probably still pay it yourself. Here, it's mostly with a credit card fro a website. If not, you'd need someone who trusts you to return the import expenses as well as the additional shipping to them.
That sounds strange. I got a custom piece of jewelry delivered to Denmark from Israel a few weeks ago. It was sent by Fed-Ex. A week after delivery I received a letter from Fed-Ex with the additional cost I had to pay to have imported it from outside the EU.
Maybe you could contact Fed-Ex or DHL?
I think you should give her something you love. Don't mind what the jeweller says. Unless your mother likes really flashy jewelry, you may want to keep it a bit simple, though, or there is a risk she'll never wear it. With an enhancer design, you could give her several and she could even wear...
The question is more if they are real pearls or fake pearls. Do they feel gritty if you rub them gently against each other? (that would indicate real pearls). If you have a loop, you can study the surface. Real pearls look smooth and fake pearls look less smooth.
Do they have any blemishes? If...
Fake pearls usually look perfect from what pictures I've seen, almost too perfect. So a few blemishes makes them look real to me :)
I personally don't think they are natural pearls (but could be wrong). It would be incredibly rare that pearls this size would be natural. I am sure they are real...
I have some gold colored base metal that tarnish in a wonderfully rock'n'roll sort of way :) I used it for the necklace with the wired Tahitians in the picture and will use it for the pinked Akoyas too. I wouldn't have bought that strand if I had thought about it (some years back) but I can't...
I had one Akoya strand, baroque and very pretty except I have never really been comfortable with it being bleached and pinked. I know it's common practice but it feels wrong to me.
So I've been eyeing untreated white strands except they are Hanadama quality with a price tag to match. I ended up...
