Update: tried the olive oil on a cheaper strand. It does look like it has more glow but that's just a trick of the eye. It doesn't improve the luster - ie, the tightness of the reflection. Thanks for the pearl doctor link - I forgot about that! Maybe when I get a really really really expensive...

Oh, I have never seen pink overtones on White SSP. I have seen slightly bluish overtones but they are so subtle I couldn't even tell.

I looked at it a few more times (especially the tahitians) and decided they were FW. I didn't that that gamble since I didn't think they were particularly exciting FW.

Just to report from my end of the world. I have seen some round untreated akoyas in Singapore. The shop I went to had the cheek to ask for a 4 figure sum when one of the pearl was damaged. Actually, come to think of it, another shop was also asking for approx 1000usd but not as pretty the ones...

Indeed! How I wish they are within budget! How lovely and deep the gold color is - almost the color of real gold! I have never seen a GSS that colour. Perle, according to official definition :p some could be klonks. They are graduated from 10 - 13.6mm (clearly that last is the middle pearl).
